Any thoughts on this phone? Seems quite old now (by phone standards) given 2015 release?

Good deal, I considered posting this but it might be worth considering that the P9 could be heavily discounted after Christmas (as the P8 was last year) and the P9 is a much nicer device. Heated though.

Its a decent phone just a shame i smashed the screen on mine.

I've been using mine for a year (when cpw accidentally listed for £149.99). Best phone I've had by far (with nova launcher). Won't be changing until it breaks ;-)

That was a genuine promotion, not a misprice. They have the Moto X Force for £299 as well. Keeping an eye out for those this year!

Hi blackbox2342. I have a P8. I find the design a little bland but it is metal. I've dropped it a few times on concrete resulting in small dings in the metal frame, but the glass has remained intact (though I do have some colour flaring now). I prefer to use my phones unadorned with a case so unsure of the availabilty of these. Performance is fine and the battery lasts me all day (I'm a light/medium user). It recently updated itself to marshmallow but might not get nougat. Huawei pitched it as tbeir high end phone in 2015... I guess it would be classed as mid tier now. I got it via hukd for 150 gbp in Feb as part of a 1 day CPW sale (which was an absolute steel at the time). It's Def worth 200. Huawei emui comes in for a lot of stick but I find it ok. The camera is very good in daylight, less so indoors in poor light. Hope this helps.

Really? Its got 3gigs of ram and 2GHz octa-core Hisilicon Kirin 935 processor (Huaweis own brand). So good specs really.
I bought it for gf in feb/march this year when CW was selling it for £150 (brill deal!!).

I think the P9 lite spec is now slightly better than the p8 itself (rrp roughly the same) and is newer, and can be had for around £130 PAYG a few weeks ago from EE (seems to be still the price in some EE stores)which can be unlocked free (ir you are patient for the code).

Can anyone confirm if this is Dual SIM?

Blackbox2342. If samseng is right then it's worth checking out the p9 lite as I think it got pretty good reviews.

My P8 isn't. 1 sim, 1 microsd.

The P9 lite is definitely a better phone specs wise (faster more efficient CPU & GPU, bigger battery, finger print sensor) but poorer screen protection (non corning gorilla glass which is a real finger print magnet) which can be rectified by tempered glass screen protectors. The consensus seems that current full P8 users do not find it worthwhile to "upgrade" to P9 lite but the full P9 is a different fish altogether (but then it is over £150 more expensive). I have upgraded my son to P9 lite from the EE offer and taken over his P8 (which I bought from the CPW offer) and we agree that the P9 lite is slightly better (other than the glass).

The P9 lite has dual sim capability but it is a hybrid (i.e. you have to sacrifice the micro SD slot for the 2nd sim) and UK models have this disabled. it can be enabled using toolkit from xda forum but it isn't a easy thing to do

good phone, good value, good size, fast. BUT the 4g modem seriously drains the battery.

and the huawei interface is a copy of the iphone. I've done away with it and use novalauncher, BUT it doesn't show full content from notifications on the lock screen (eg text message words, or music controls) regardless. which is a pain.

i got mine from CPW for £150 in march. not sure i'd pick another up at £200, but good value if you need a phone quickly.

apparently you can hack it so that the microsd slot can be used by a second sim. The asian version of this phone comes with this capability as standard (and no sd slot).
