Sorry but the spec is too low to be useful as a smart phone.....an ANTUTU benchmark of around 6500 is simply not worth it.....if you want a phone just to make calls you can get one for around £10

Spot on, I have the misfortune of using one at the moment while my main handset is with insurer being repaired after a recent fall (we keep it as an emergancy handset).
It can just about manage gmail! I am constantly having to restart it as it loses data connection and won't reconnect without a restart.

Does manage a call ok but these days they're few and far between.

Yes, when you follow it all the way through, it goes up to £59.95 and you don't have the option of the upgrade. it's also a crap phone, I bought it are £39.99 and sold it a week later. unusable if you've used anything half decent previously, but that's neither here not there.

This doesn't look better - what am I missing?
Same RAM, same resolution, also dual core, same storage. But the Cubot only has a 1350mAh removable battery - that might be a deal breaker.
CPU is a bit faster for the Cubot - most likely not relevant, as the RAM is probably where the pain is.

TBH, the software guys should simply learn how to program properly! 512MB is a lot - Bill Gates said nobody would ever need more than 640KB! ;)

Good point ..... same way as Lord Sugar explaimed of the original iPhone that: "Its just a passing fad & would never catch on ..... " (whether he was right to say that or not?, &/or whether you agree with him too that iPhones are a 'Fad' & shouldn't have lasted anywhere near its cycle?, or ..... 'Stuffs' are often mis-represented in one way or the other?, so ..... ) what can I say ..... :-)

Not quite the same....CUBOT has dual sim.....but more importantly look at how it all works together

Huawei ANTUTU 6500
Cubot ANTUTU 9500

Must tell you there is something quite different between the two for 3000 points different in benchmarking

I'm not saying the CUBOT is a great phone just that the Huawei is a poor one like this deal

With a 1.0 Ghz processor with a few windows open things get painfully slow, I agree with the other posters lots of better phones out now.

Makes me reminisce about my first proper PC.....Pentiun 75Mhz processor & 32Mb RAM.....and that came in quite a big box ;-)

Why should I believe a benchmark?? They are synthetic and do NOT represent day to day use. Do you know how they weight e.g. 3D graphics, memory speed, CPU etc? Do they factor in that more (and not faster) memory can accelerate user experience a lot?
And 3D graphics is almost irrelevant at this price level.

In my experience apps etc. open slowly because of the limited RAM of this phone - and the Cubot does not have more RAM. Plus I'd prefer more battery over a faster CPU.

Do you know if it is the processor holding back this phone? I'd be very curious where the bottleneck lies. I'm pretty confident it is the memory or maybe internal SD speed that's a limitation, not the CPU.

I agree, there are many better phones out there, but none at this price level.

You can get the Huawei Y330 on upgrade at CPW for £39.95 on T-Mobile, Orange, Virgin, Vodafone and £49.95 on O2 it runs 4.3 Jellybean and has a 1.3 Ghz processor, 512MB RAM, Dual Core also I think it would come unlocked if I remember correctly, I know which I would get out of the two.

Surprised this is cold when the y330 reached 330 degrees a few weeks ago at the same price and is a worse phone. I have the y300 and think it is great for the money. Yes it is a bit slow to open some apps but has great battery life, camera isn't as bad as many people think (pictures are OK but there is just abit of shutter lag)
If anyone can tell me a better phone at £50 then please do.
Only annoying thing about the phone is the default "avoid poor WiFi connection "setting, which you can untick, and the warning when you leave WiFi and go to 3g, but you can root the phone and edit the build prop file (as I have done) of you find it too annoying.

This phone was available at the Carphone Warehouse at £40 a few months ago, shame that that deal isn't still available.
I have this phone, and although it runs fairly well considering the price, it isn't great to be used as a smartphone. One of the main purposes of a smartphone is to download apps, but you only get 1GB of storage for apps (the rest of the available user storage can only be used for photos/music etc). 1GB is nowhere near enough for a smartphone.
