Emmm, why has this deal already been pushed into the cold section when there's about 40 games on all consoles at the lowest possible prices??? :x

Some people are very ungrateful and doesn't even have the courtesy to explain why they think the deal is rubbish, this has taken me a good couple hours to research and write up, yet people can't be arsed to give up 10 seconds of there time.

I'm really getting sick of this and may decide to stop wasting my time listing deals because of certain people.

EDIT: -7.8 now from -1.6, it's getting worse and for no reason, thanks for being stupid and misleading people to think the deal is crap, i just hope your stupidity doesn't dissuade people away from some bargains.

Voted hot for ya. good prices
#5
Don't let it get to you rfm, they do it to lots of posts. Over time this will go warm/hot if it is a good deal.

It has only been up 30 mins.

Don't see it as a personal thing and keep up the good work on posting deals. Where would we be if everyone give up because of cold voting.

I bet if you come back tomorrow the temp will have changed if the deal is a good one.
#6
realfriendlyman - it is thier choice what way to vote, we really cannot do anything about this. But people have a distinct preference for deal posts with a single game in them, that is a very good deal. Perhaps if you choose those which are really hot deals and post them individually, showing a price comparison therein, it would get a warmer reception.

there ive warmed it up for ya....

yep I know that feeling...as you can see patience my friend as it's now ont front page...so please keep on posting the deals cos what you'll find is some people just vote cold on certain deals because they're not to their taste..nothing to do with whether they are VFM.

I'm tempted to vote cold for the hissy fit.

Looking at the PS2 games, they're not that cheap really - and a free t-shirt doesn't exactly swing it.

Good on your for posting it up mind...but you've got to accept some people's opinion on how good a deal it is will differ from yours.
#13
RFM, You need to ignore the cold voters, If you keep doing a song and dance every time there is a cold vote, People are going to keep cold voting for the reaction.

Voted Hot BTW, Some good games and prices there.

Hi Emma,

I hear what you're saying but with about 40 games reduced and several great deals included all from the same retailer, i didn't want to clog up the forums with loads of gaming only deals when it can be combined into one and thusly to leave space for some other deals in there respective fields.

I was considering highlighting some of the best deals that i believe are worthy by writing them in capital letters but a good deal to me, may be too expensive for someone else.
I mean, how can you decide which deals are the best?
Some may consider it to be the best games being slightly cheaper to everywhere else, whereas some people will prefere to buy below average games at dirt cheap prices, so it would depend.
I was also considering seperating the deal into groups e.g best games, best value, respective console etc but i thought that would take too much time and may seem too complex but what do others think, as i may do this in the future if it will help people. :)

Despite this, i decided to highlight Sonic the Hedgehog from the direct link and pic because it's 60% off retail and a third cheaper than the 2nd lowest priced retailer plus it comes with a free game, so i thought that was great value but some may think the games not good enough.

voted hot for sonic ps3, anyone got this game is it ok ? thx

I don't mind people voting the deal cold, i would just like it to be as you mentioned "peoples opinions", it is extremely frustration to spend a lot of time listing a deal and then people to vote the deal cold without any justification.

I mean, if people said that they know elsewhere selling the games cheaper or the respective game(s) are terrible etc, i would respect that and appreciate they've taken the time to let me know but how am i supposed to know what kind of deals to post when i don't know what aspects people don't like about the deal?
#18
"by writing them in capital letters" - bad idea, would get some cold votes for the poor ettiquette.

"I mean, how can you decide which deals are the best?"

Largest saving off next available? Ie something spectacular like a game at 80% off is definitely a hot deal. A £38 game at £2 off is nothing special at all. If we wanted to find those level of savings then we'd use the same price comparison sites you did to find these. If we wanted to use shopto all the time we'd look on the shopto site.

A couple of these are outstanding such as sonic on ps3, and
Puyo Pop Fever on DS - post selectively the top deals, rather than expecting everyone to wade through the mediocrity that is the bulk of the post. For expletives sake "
Juiced 2 only £24.99 delivered (next lowest price £25.96)" is in no way at all a hot deal, and certainly not front page worthy in the least. When I look at the hot deal list I expect the best deals of the day, not a 97p saving! Shame on you for even mentioning it!

I personally haven't voted yet but this does NOT deserve 87 degrees and a front page spot just because your ego was a little battered in a relatively anonymous internet forum.

Voted Hot & Repped ya & Bought Splinter Cell on PS3 for hubby - Kewl RFM!!! Thanks :)

Edit: Buying Sonic aswell now- That'll be me in big trouble for spending a load of cash again :giggle:

Every time you throw a wobbler over a cold vote, The cold voters are going to do it more and more, Just to see the reaction.

You waste more time complaining about the cold votes than you do posting the deal!! :p
#21
Take it easy RFM. I have bought a few things from deals you have posted but if you are going to get this upset people will vote cold just to wind you up.

Anyway voted hot and thanks for taking the time to compile the list.

I do appologise and will try not to take it personally for the future, it just gets very frustrating when it happens without any explanation in EVERY SINGLE DEAL posted and i normally post double digits of deals per week.
#23
@ RFM - some of Sean's points above are valid - just because they are the cheapest on the net doesn't make them worth posting.

For example, I would only post them if they were about 25% cheaper thanthe next best available online price. So that would mean most in the list were fairly average. Posting the outstanding ones seperately would be your best bet.

And it is true about the cold voters, they will do it more if you complian unfortunately.

nah you are right to have a moan :) i reckon to be able to vote you should first have to leave a reply at least.
#25
Emma, any mod, Admin.

If the thermometer didn't show anything until say 20 members had voted this would then only show after a big enough sample of votes had taken place.

This would stop the seriel cold voters votes from having such an impact if the next 75% voted hot.

I think this would work but do not know how feasible it is.

Or is it not really that important.

I would appreciate anyones views.

I would of listed the better deals in bold, rather than consider it to be in capital letters but there's no option to do this inside the OP contents but it's only available in the responses.

I do completely agree with you, i can't really decide which deals are the best, as i've mentioned in the response to the lovely Emma but that's why i spent even more time and compiled a full list of the cheaper games, a great deal to you may be a game that's significantly cheaper than anywhere else, whereas a good deal to someone else may be to find a game they're after at the lowest price, regardless if it's only 10% cheaper.

I decided to list all the games that were reduced to a lower price than other retailers along with the games with the big discounts, as i thought there may be something in the list that people may want to buy and again, who am i to decide if it's worth it, as even though a respective game may be £0.97p cheaper, that person may think the game they're after is excellent value as a whole, despite the small difference in price.

Saying that, I don't mind if you vote the deal hot or cold because you've given me an explanation as to why you believe the deal may not be a good deal to you, so i would like to thank you.

P.S I also tried to list the games with the biggest savings at the top of the respective consoles list of games to make it a bit easier.
#27
It seems this post has become really hot now, complaining about cold voters ultimately makes a deal hot, will start complaining myself now!:p
#28
"even though a respective game may be £0.97p cheaper, that person may think the game they're after is excellent value as a whole, despite the small difference in price."

Thing is they would only think that saving worthwhile if they wanted the game anyway in which case they'd be looking it up on find-games or the like, and therefore have seen that anyway. I don't know about everyone else but I have never ever seen a big advert in a shop

"£25 game 97p less than next door! Limited stock!"

Ok, Juiced 2 is the exception but the majority of the games are between 10-50% cheaper than anywhere else in the UK, so it's not just next door and most of the discounts are significant.

Also, obviously no one would advertise a product the way you've listed it but that was only done as further effort by myself for price comparisons for all the games.
If you want to hear a good example of how it's advertised by other retailers, then Tesco is a prime example.
They state they have more products at the same price or lower than any other supermarket in the UK but when you attempt to go through the price comparison on their site, you'll see that nearly every product is only 1p or 2p cheaper.

A price comparison is an effective marketing tool and it's only purpose is to prove it's the lowest price possible.

Despite Juiced being only £0.97p cheaper, you have to remember that every penny DOES count and is the whole point of cashback sites, such as Quidco, which offers you only a few percent cashback in each purchase and Juiced 2 is 4% cheaper than anywhere else.

Every penny does count yeah, and the only results that can come of this are A it gets ignored and therefore is pointless or
B someone buys it on your reccomendation after seeing the 162 degree temp, and is therefore £25 down on having not looked at the post without a real desire for the game - if they'd wanted it they'd have already found it.

Wow....not realfriendlyman...hell you can't expect every deal you make to be voted hot...not every one has the same opinion. I submit the occasional voucher not expecting it to be hot (they usually aren't) but I think they should all be listed in case someone wants to use the voucher and get a saving out of it.

Voted hot and rep given for the time it took....even though you had a big ol girly hissy fit. I Think Sonic is probably the first game on The PS3 that's slightly interested me....the console is still way too expensive though.

So if people want an item badly enough, they'd have found it themselves already. By that logic, theres no real point in HUKD ! Don't be so daft...RFM has used up a considerable amount of his own time to put a post together to help people who may not have the time to endlessly search every website out there for deals.

There are a lot of different games listed in RFM's post that might well appeal to a large cross-section of gamers. Just because some people may already have a game/not like a game is no reason to vote cold.

As far as I understand it, the point of the whole heat thing is to indicate whether the item(s) posted represent good value for money. Seeing as how RFM has taken the time to not only post the prices available, but also the next nearest prices he could find online, it seems pretty evident that they are good deals.

So why not lay off and find someone else to grouch at.

Thats my two penneth anyway.

Many time I will receive an email from xxx.com listing some deals/special offers etc, and five minutes later the deal from xxx.com is posted on HUKD. Similarly sites like uk.gamestracker.com email alerts and these quickly appear on here. You can either subscribe to a few emails and find out about the majority of deals you are interested in, or just sign up to HUKD and see them in the one place!

It is a valid reason to vote cold when it's 97 bloody pence. If it was a decent saving it's worth going for - that's the reason behind HUKD, not shaving a few pence off a game that you may not want.
RFM deserves every bit of stick he gets for this post in my opinion - His continuous whining is certainly not in the spirit of the site, nor is posting dozens and dozens of repetitive items from the same one or two merchants. RFM loves softuk - we get it! SoftUK are pence cheaper - fine! But it's nothing a watch list on a price comparison site doesn't cover.
I think most users will agree that HUKD often results in making purchases you didnt even want before you saw the post, and spending unnecessarily because it's cheaper than somewhere else by a few pence is not a hot deal. It's not even one item:

Juiced PS3 is still £35 for a game
Starfox DS a whole 78p wow.
Tony Hawks £1
Splinter Cell A posted before B just over £1 anyway
PGR3 94p
NBA £1
NHL £1
etc etc etc.

This is hotukdeals.com not lukewarmdeals! The majority of these DO NOT deserve front page space - it's supposed to be a way of seeing the best deals, not having to filter through the rubbish. If you wanted to filter through you'd use the forums. Some of these are great deals - and should be posted alone - it'd only be a handful of posts. Overwhelming us with deals from one merchant is unnecessary & quite frankly irritating. I want to see the deals with decent savings not minor amount of money off. Cheapest doesn't always = hot deal. It's not value for money alone else most things would be through the roof, and we'd have to increase the thresholds for front page again and again. Is it a bargain? yes vote hot. Is it a good deal but not an amazing saving? Warm - it'll tend towards the teen temps. Is it a rubbish product/ cheaper elsewhere? Go cold.

This overall has a couple of bargains that would reach 100+ degrees each but some that don't deserve to go beyond 15 deg.
