We've had one of these and they DON'T work
Same - no mouse and bait was gone!
If you are after a humane trap that works, I have used one of those rocker type ones baited with peanut butter to great effect.

Rentokil FM47 is the make/model.

tried them didnt work for my pesky mice, however at b&q they do a pack of 2 reusable plastic ones which kill the mouse, they work great and did the business,

i tried humane way didnt work, then tried th death pellets, they all got eaten, or so i thought, the cheeky so and so's just stock piled it rather than eat it.

the cheapo ones with some peanut butter worked in 6 hours all gone. after 3 weeks of noises and scratching in the attic and also damage to the insulation boards.

wont use anything else if they ever come back, cheap and they work
Perhaps these ones are overly 'humane' then, in that effectively they are just a food station for the mice
I have a similar trap and it did/does work. It is all in the placement- no bait required. I don't think much of the "humane" bit though. Letting house mice loose in the woods is just a slow death. My trap came with instructions to drop it into a bucket of water to despatch the mice.
I used the Rentokil one. Caught a live mouse. Then found out it's illegal to release vermin!
Used it again, forgot to check the trap and a few days later found a
decaying smelly lump in the trap.
Not nice!
Use the cheap wooden spring traps now. A quick clean death.
