Wont these all be somewhat lacking once Freeview HD is country wide? We get it later this year I think, and i can already see the difference on having had Freesat HD for eighteen months.

why?

arent there only about 2 or 3 HD channels available and a lot of us cant get it for well over a year.

besides the fact an HD recorder is 2-3 times the price!

really stupid reason to vote cold tbh

HOT!

Very good price for this model.

Ideal even if you plan to get an HD recorder, as this one can record all your SD stuff and leave the HD recorder free for HD recordings which gobble up space like nobody's business.

Picked one up last week, still has some bugs even on the latest firmware, had a couple of failed recordings, another without sound.

Works well when records properly, picture is average via hdmi, nothing special, and menus are a little dated and clunky. Nice to just schedule the weeks films for recording and watch them when I have time.

tbh he has a good point!
You can actually buy a Freeview HD box CHEAPER!
Humax are doing the Humax HD-FOXT2 for £99 (refurb)
Then all you need to record is a USB HDD or large USB Pen. (Everyone has old spare ones of these they can make use of surely ??)
The only significant disadvantage of the FOXT2 is that it's only a single tuner device, however this is becoming less important for casual users as you can simply use the built in Freeview/FreeviewHD tuner thats in your telly when recording!!

Errrr I think you will find the one I mentioned is INDEED a recorder once you add something for it to record onto! Obviously if your a heavy user than a 16Gb pen isn't going to be practical, but considering you can buy 2.5" HDD dirt cheap that problem is easily and cheaply solved.

**EDIT** Here you are, an 80Gb USB HDD, plenty of space for your SD & HD recordings :-)

Worth posting this as a deal in its own right. Noticed them a few weeks ago at this price. Still several in the two local extra stores nearest me. One has them priced @ £119.97 but scans @ £99.97. Discontinued from Tesco's web site. Instore only as you point out.

Do any Tesco insiders know when the price of this is likely to drop again? Found a store with a shelf full priced at £99.97.
