Apologies, I was under the impression that Lewis were offering an extended warranty over and above the manufacturers standard 1 year. I was wrong.

The standard warranty is 2 years(I hope). Thanx 2 Rayman the price is now more palatable. Nonetheless I have been looking to pick 1 of these units up as a 'mas pressie.

247 Electrical are advertising this with buy now pay September 07 if that is helpful:santa:

Very good point. I wouldn't expect to find a Humax for £19.95 at Argos.

Interestingly, I have a 5 year old pace delivering pictures to my 100hz Toshy - say no more about quality and development of good products. I still believe the Humax, thanx to Rayman, now for under £60, is second to none out there in shop land considering what you are actually getting. You pays your money....you takes your choice.

I'm off to buy it at that price - oh, one other thing, John Lewis customer services, should you require them ,are top dog - the customer rules seems to be the company mantra. Total satisfaction is guaranteed should something go wrong with anything you purchase from them.

Humax is the "mutt's nuts" of set top boxes:thumbsup:

I won't disagree that they are very good. To some people tho' unless it is 2/6d, or less, they wouldn't consider buying it, irrespective of its brand quality and pedigree. Pound for pound - under 60 quid is not expensive even without the 2 year warranty.

no offense meant! I had a £20 box, and the quality was excellent. I just went out and bought the 160Gb PVR advertised by Rayman, and it's just as good quality as my £20 one was.

That always gets me with things, it's like TV sets having hundreads of channels, like you'd actually ever be physically able to use them

I agree with you & SHOWMAN 36.

The Humax is superb. Unfortunately, some can't see the difference due to the limitations of the TV that's being used.

The Humax F2-FOX T is so popular it's often out of stock.

Thanks to eggman for bringing a quality item to the table. Yes, it's not the hottest deal but it is hot because it's that good particularly with the John Lewis discount.

Interesting discussions on how good the Humax is. I had one when they first came out and it suffered badly from lipsync problems. Humax arranged a refund as the seller was not very happy about taking it back. I have several Philips boxes and a Thomson PVR all giving excellent picture quality, certainly better than the Humax. I have to agree these days £60 for a basic Freeview box is definately not a bargain.
