That's cos it only has a single tuner.

The PVR will more than likely have two, then you'll need another (for dual record / recording and watching).

There is no reason why this box should be more expensive than a simple freeview box. With just a few programs on freesat it's better to wait until these boxes are sold at a more reasonable price. Vastly overpriced at the moment.

this is a HD box not a SD box, the freesat SD boxes are under £50 like freview:roll:

Err.....

I certainly don't need any reference to Specsavers.

I have Blu, HD-DVD, Sky HD and a couple of up-converting DVD machines so I am probably as qualified to understand the relative merits of HD as you are my "friend":whistling:

However, these machines are over-priced for what they are and what they deliver versus their SD equivalents and if you cannot see that then I contend you to be the optically-challenged idiot of the thread:p

Absolute rubbish, these units do not compare with " simple freeview box ".

Currently the best freesat box out there for HD. It will pick up all Free to Air channels off $ky as well.

I was going to wait for the the Twin Tuner HD PVR but that wont be out till end of November and then be in limited supply at around £300. There isn't that much to record on HD yet but I will get one when they are more plentiful and probably cheaper. Metronics are introducing a similar PVR HD twin tuner in early 2009 I believe.

I've been told the $ky HD box at £75 now will be discounted even further nearer Xmas (c. £49) but I ain’t locking myself into a 12month contract at over £320 for the privilege

Oh yeah, they have dozens of pounds more worth of electronics inside and they are much more difficult to put together than a freeview box:p

No wonder consumer electronics companies regard the UK as a cash cow worth milking for all it's worth:whistling:

Totally agree with you mate. There is little difference in the internals. Another rip-off Britain example.

Still cheaper than paying Sky for a years contract.

No wonder Murdoch is so rich.:whistling:
