Product Information
Taking set-top box and free-to-air TV channel technology one step further, freesat gives you access to 140 digital TV and radio channels and even offers the option of HD (High Definition) viewing.

To make the most of this new service, the Humax Foxsat-HD makes the ideal choice. As the name suggests, the Foxsat-HD is able to receive HD TV stations and will therefore make the most of HD Ready TVs. With up to 5 times the picture detail, HD TV images offer stunning realism, whatever the genre.

As you'd expect from one of the leading manufacturers of set-top boxes, the Humax freesat HD has a very high spec. The HDMI output resolves up to 1080i, whilst there's also component and SCART for those without an HDMI-equipped TV. A digital output allows you to connect the set-top box to a home cinema system and get digital sound quality to match the picture. With automatic software upgrades, a full colour electronic program guide and Ethernet support, the Foxsat-HD is easy to use and comprehensively equipped for the future.

For an introduction to the pleasures of freesat, the Humax Foxsat-HD makes a compelling choice.

freesat and the freesat logo are the registered trade marks of Freesat (UK) Ltd

AS STATED £116.95! Not worth getting the extended guarantee to make is £128.90.

Has scart input and component input for people without HDMI. BBC HD and ITV HD will broadcast through the component input but not the scart input.

Some people have experienced sync sound issues but you can sort this out in the menu.

Just remember to update the software.

You can also pickup all the non-freesat channels via the menu such as Luxe HD etc..

NO Virgin1 channel. Only available through freeview. So no Chuck.

That is without a doubt an excellent price so voted hot!

With regard to freesat though. We'vre recently reverted back to sky hd because we were very dispointed with the availability of decent channels through freesat.

Many many of the channels listed are +1 hour delay channels or shopping or travel channels. ITV HD is only really of use when the champions league is on.

Hi
Thanks for posting. I have added an image to your post.
This is a link, made by rayman, which explains how to add images in great detail. It’s worth taking a look at if you are going to post more deals in future : - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/339941/how-to-post-and-host-images-for-thr/
Or follow the link in my signature.

I cancelled Sky because they just show repeat after repeat of the same shows. If you can afford Sky obviously you gets what you pay for as regards channels. Freesat is currently the cheapest option at the moment to make the most of your HD ready TV. Iknow there are cheaper boxes out there, but the Humax is without doubt the best.

I paid £99 for my first Digital set top receiver when they first appeared and so it begins all over again just saying

Yeah, this has crossed my mind. But you probably wont see this box heavily discounted like the Alba range stuff. I am sure they will come down in price later but this is a good deal as Freesat stands at the moment.

Oh gawd - how could you? They are the most stressful and infuriating company that I have ever had the misfortune to deal with (yes, even worse than BT!!!). I finally escaped their clutches and switched to freesat in July and after the experiences I have had with that firm I will NEVER go back. Their Business plan and strategy is nothing short of evil.....awful company.

i might consider freesat if and when the prices of their hd twin pvr boxes come down - the ones similar to skyhd.

the only other problem is the lack of asian channels - problem for a few select anyway.....

Oh i know trump! They are awful. Probably the worsed customer service of any company.

The sad thing is though i don't get cable in my area and the channels most watched by us - Sky one, Living, FX, Sci Fi channel, discovery aren't available on freesat or freeview.

As much as its admirable that they have a wide variety of russian, french, arabic news channels which are no doubt of importance to some; their entertainment channles are somewhat lacking.

Again not taking away from the deal though still definitely a hot one! just not for me, been there, tried that, didn't like it.

Did you not check out the channel line up before buying your box?

Have you considered going motorised, or a second dish for Asian channels?

I'm not overly familiar with asian channels but this box can pick all the Astra Free to Air channels as well as the Freesat ones.

How much will that cost me? it seems a bit much just to pick up some asian channels, when you can get it all in one.......... not advocating sky, but at the moment they seem to be the best solution

i have heard they can be pick up some music channels, but i would specifically need channel s, banglaTV, peacetv and islam channel - channels like that for me and the olds.

there is still the question of recording the content and watching something else - dual pvr
#18
Whilst this might be a decent price for the Humax, I say, save your money and buy one of these instead http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5321564/Trail/searchtext%3EFREESAT+HD.htm for £67.39.

The Humax really isn't worth the extra.

HD broadcasts are excellent on the Bush [just as they are on the Humax] but SD broadcasts for both give quite a 'soft' picture quality compared to Freeview.

That and the fact that there is very little in the way of broadcast HD material anyway on Freesat [BBC HD is the only dedicated channel, with the odd programme on ITV HD - via the red button service] IMHO means that you should pay no more than you need to.

Normally a second dish + LNB and cabling would probably set you back about £50-60ish though without further research I'm not quite sure what Asian channels are available on other sats.

Just done a quick search and Bangla and Peace TV both seem to be Free to Air on Sky.

Do you also watch Zee, Sony, B4U etc?

CAn you simply disconnect an old style Sky Digibox, and connect this in its place?

If it's Free to Air on Sky then it can be picked on this box.

I don't have satellite dish where I am currently living ... what is the best way to get one installed at a good price, and then buy one of these boxes?
#26
Carley
Buy a dish from Amazon (£22.95) and do it yourself.

(MIght need one of these as well)

My house is really tall so sorting out the installation is a bit scary to me!! So me of you folks are quite daring ....

Carley
The dish doesn't need to be located at the top of the house, unless there is anything obscuring the line of sight you could quite easily fix this half-way up.
(I know i can reach my dish with a stepladder.)

That's interesting ... so did you just do some drilling in the brickwork, mount the dish, and then ran cables where necessary? Did it look cosmetically good or was the cabling messy?

Thanks for your help by the way.
