Humax Foxsat 320Gb HDR

"What HiFi" 5***** ..If you're looking to take the plunge with Freesat, this is the way we'd do it a great piece of kit.

Code (5% COOK5) seems to work. Includes standard delivery.

Cheapest online (even Amazon) and most other HotUKdeal history. Thought it might be interesting if you are in the market for this device.

Excellent PVR from first-hand experience - personally I'd use the Dixons price to get RicherSounds to pricematch as I know which I'd rather deal with (though in fact I chose to buy mine from Argos as had vouchers/Nectar points).

Yeah agree, and while you are at it pay the £25 ish to extend the warranty on it to 5 years with richer sounds, well worth it bearing in mind it has got a HDD in it and is spinning a lot of the time !

I hope this is still available next week when I have the money.

Will Richer Sounds pricematch Dixons? I've got Currys to pricematch Richer Sounds in the past.

BTW great price for a great box. BBC I-player is now active on it as well now.

SORRY hadn't read through all the detail to find the price was actually after a Dixons' discount code! Not sure how other people match those sort of things if at all - but if you don't ask you don't get - ie do a printout of the Dixons site with the discount off and take that into the RS store with you ?!?!
Though maybe RS will spot the COOK5 discount isn't legit (just as Dixon's might)
" 5% off All Freestanding Cookers and Built in Ovens 1660 -£12.00 "

Errr Otherwise yes, that's why I raised it though as always the devil is in the detail:
" We will happily price beat against other web retailers (must include next day P&P when products can't be collected) as long as we can verify stocks."
though I guess the "next day P&P" bit could inflate some prices before RS will match them but then they will take £5 off ie potentially cancelling out.

http://www.richersounds.com/information/pricebeat

BTW in RS's printed literature the HDR has their specific "Lowest Price Guaranteed" logo on it, and most people seem to report straightforward price matches in stores - ie no uplift/downlift stuff, though they maybe giving an abbreviated report.

I think the BBC iPlayer is still very much in (leaked) Beta - great feature though! (ie use the HDR Ethernet port to link to Internet to stream SOME iPlayer programmes from a limited (Beta) library - presumably all the regular ones once out of Beta)

True ... though the two bits of good news (a) is that has a normal 3.5" format SATA drive so if familiar with the internals of a PC you'd find it easy to replace a duff one (albeit ideally with an AV spec one); (b) if you don't have to claim on the RS 5 year SuperCare you can reclaim its cost (assuming RS are still there in 5 years time AND you claim during the limited time window - a specific month from memory, but haven't checked for a while).

It's still in Beta..but now official rather than leaked and on Humax HD and Sonys at the moment.

I've tried it and it works a treat.

Thanks for that - hadn't spotted they are now publicising the Beta openly.
More info at the official site too at http://www.freesat.co.uk/
specifically this page currently:

I deliberately ran long Ethernet cables through the roof/wall spaces to feed my Freesat boxes in anticipation of it :)
Pleased to hear they say 1Mbps for standard and 2Mbps for Higher def iPlayer feeds as I get mid 3Mbps and hadn't spotted any issues with beta streaming.
