With Quidco this is around £230 - the cheapest deal currently (for a new one with a 2 year warranty - i.e. not an A grade from Humax direct!)

Google "humax hdr" and you'll find it cheaper in a couple of places.

I bought mine from John Lewis nearly a month ago for £199 - it was a deal on this site that has now expired.

well I'v been searching for one of these....they are all around the £249 mark...this is the best price I have seen.....but anyone finds it cheaper...........

One of the best things i ever bought, Itv could do with more HD content though (but all there footy is in hd so its not all bad)

I bought one of these just before xmas...its a great system with one major drawback.

The remote control receiver is very poor, if you are more than 10ft away from the unit the remote will not work. You also have to be directly in front of the unit, if you are slightly sitting at an angle the receiver will not work!! :-(. If you search some of the forums, you will see this is a common issue. Having emailed Humax customer services, it has to be said that there response is to get up and stand in front of the unit!!! seems pointless having a remote control though don't you think?

Apart from that, it works very well and is very easy to set up.

All i all i would give this unit 7/10

Unless you really need the PVR feature, the Bush HD Freesat machine is almost £180 less.

You get the same channel selection and it has an LNB out socket so if you have a Sky+ machine, you can hook it up to that and get the best of both worlds:thumbsup:

Its availible now the BBC released the code so you access it from the red button and enter the code like a page number.Works very well but will need an update to the Humax box to fully integrate it.

Connect to your router via eithernet cable switch to a BBC channel, press the red button and type 5483 in as though entering a page number. Press the OK button and iplayer will then load.

"The Beta release will become available to all freesat HD receivers including freesat HD TVs in the following weeks and months. "

So all the other Freesat devices should get it too! Brilliant:thumbsup:

But it's not HD as coleaj asked.

HD iPlayer is something they will look into once the SD service has been rolled out fully and is working well. And it will depend very much on the bandwidth of broadband services.

Had a look at the beta earlier on my Humax, seems good so far!

Why is it only being done on HD Freesat then?:?

not sure. maybe it's because the HD Humax boxes were the first out, and most popular. As you posted though - they will be rolling it out on other freesat boxes too.

If you have this already could you please tell me if you get all the same channels as sky such as comedy central etc. Do you get any of the sports of movie channels on this? Also I only have a standard sky box so would I need to get someone in to come and put another line from the sky box to then dish to be able to use the sky + function?

And what is PVR?
#14
Hi i dont have this box but can tell you that PVR is a harddrive so you can record programs on it......Personnel Video Recorder...hope that helps

This is an alternative to Sky, subscription free, and as such only has free to air channels. Comedy Central etc are subscription channels that you have to pay for every month with Sky.

See here for more details on the freesat service - http://www.freesat.co.uk/

Superb box... Will pick up hundreds of non-freesat Free to Air Channels as well and can control a motorised dish.

Highly recomended.

BBC HD and ITV HD and BBC i-player is plenty* for me so I save £400+ EACH & EVERY year by NOT having a $ky HD subscription and spend it on a holiday instead!

* ITV Player very soon and hopefully Channel 4HD if Murdo$h makes space on Astra 2d.
