You can get it cheaper than this occasionally, or as a refurb. To be honest having bought just a basic Bush HD box that is so much better and the way things are going so i wouldn't invest any more in SD.

Pretty much always available at £229.00 + £5.00 postage from Humax Direct. Just got mine before Christmas. Brilliant bit of kit.

Play are appalling to deal with if anything fails after 30 days - far too risky with something of this value.

Roll on the new Humax Freeview HD PVR when it arrives.

He didn't say that, says he will buy when under £200. Clearly the HD PVR's will be more expensive initially but they don't have to be. they will be a premium price for early adopters. I bought one of the first Pace PVR's and then a Thomson and they were expensive but represented a significant change in the way I watched TV. These HD boxes will only be an upgrade of existing technology but no doubt they will milk it for a bit although companies like Bush are already showing they can do a tuner at £50. Humax are over-rated in my opinion anyway. They can't even make a box that can flawlessly record without sometimes missing the start or the end, or set padding without losing a series record function.

I love my Humax, but you may have a point about chopping off the start and end pretty often. Not sure, though, whether this is down to the Humax or the TV companies not using the start signals correctly - techy forums suggest it could be the latter.

I have a Sony DVD Recorder with HDD, Does it perfectly. My Thomson box does it perfectly but i can pad both sides of the programme even with adjacent recordings.

Fair point. Does the Sony do the job without the need for padding? The Humax does at least deal with programmes starting late, but the chopping off is, I agree, annoying. :)
