I bought a Humax Grade A standard HD box from Humax Direct and it was totally perfect and new - I have no idea why it was sold as Grade A as it was new as far as I could gather.

People voting this cold have no idea. Good deal OP :)

Many thanks matey.

What I can't understand, is when a product has a price drop, it's cold. :?

I think the first 15 minutes of any deal are generally cold voters, clicking their way down the list. Something we all have to accept I'm afraid.

Between various family members we’ve owned 4 of the Humax Freeview PVRs and 3 of them failed within 1 to 3 years. I’d highly recommend paying the extra money and buying one from RicherSounds; £253 with a 5 year warranty. The Humax refurbs only come with a 1 year warranty.

I have no such experience, based on the 5 Humaxes I or family members have owned. 100% reliability.

Have to say only had bad experience with humax graded stuff, one came with fan blocked with dirt and other died after 18 months. False investment saving a few quid in short term.

Ah well, ya can't win em all. :-D

Bought a Humax Foxsat-HD Grade A box and it looked as new and was delivered within a few days, albeit without the HDMI that it should have, but they sent one without any hassle. Do agree with the point though that with a HDR with moving parts the idea of a Richer Sounds 5yr warranty for 10% is a bargain there.

Which models have you used?
I had no problem with the earlier single tuner version but the 9200T hasn’t been very reliable; just glad they came with a 2 year warranty when new as most failed between 1 and 2 years.

What has put me off Humax is that they have been working on a fix for the 9200T since last September/October and it’s still in Beta testing. My parents live in an area where the DSO has seriously affected the performance of the 9200T and their warranty runs out in 3 months so hopefully they will fix it soon so that I can sell it for them and recoup some money.

I still like Humax but I would only buy one of their products with a 3 to 5 year warranty from a retailer with a good customer service record.

I had one of the 8000's which was good but the single tuner was limiting so I got a 9200. Then a Foxsat HDR. Two other family members also have Foxsats and one of those also upgraded from a 9200. No bother from any of them although all were new rather than graded.

What exactly is wrong with your folks' 9200?

Maybe if they'd kept the 9200 longer they'd also have blown up. :w00t:

Didn't buy a refurb but new and have to say excellent right out of th ebox. local supplier tried to charge me £50 to install but bought online and did it myself. Plug n play. So far so good 12 months on - worried about comments on warranty!!!

Excellent deal, been waiting for this baby to slip under the £200 barrier for a while now. I was all set to go and pick up the Bush FreesatHD box from Argos (posted on here last week), now this deal has left me with a bit of a dilemma!
