Probably better to wait a few months for the inevitable bugs to get sorted out.

Don't forget installation costs of £99.95

FYI, I've had a Humax PVR800 for a few years now and it is still working faultlessly. Which consumer guide always give the brand good marks though I haven't used Freesat yet.

Just a tip, you can use your sky dish for this, works fine. If you had sky+ then it's a straight swap or if you just had normal sky digital then put a new dual lmb and dual cable and your sorted. Save some more money :)

The code says it does not apply to this item! I think it's only for the terrestrial freeview products. There is a seperate code for the Humax HD non-recording STB, that code doesn't work for the HDR either.

Very good price - if the code worked!

The Comet website clearly states that the code is availalable for use on this product but the basket says otherwise:

Sorry - the code you have entered HUM10 does not apply to the item(s) in your basket.

Code not working

This code was due to end 21st Nov but it does still show on their website.....

It has been reported on another forum that yesterday, although the code didn't appear to work on the item through the website, if you telephone the internet helpdesk/sales they will honour the discount.

Last night, the HUM10 code link went to a blank page.....at least now it links to a page with the Foxsat-HDR on it....and the item itself shows the code applies....(which it didn't yesterday)

Just remember to UNselect the HDMI cable that comet would have you believe is required.....apparently the unit already has a HDMI cable in the box.

Voted Hot.....a 10% saving at this stage (only launched today) is not to be sniffed at.
It's just a shame Comet haven't perfected their distribution chain.....Argos had stock for delivery Monday (but their stocks have now pretty much dried up)

Think I will wait until it is half this price:thumbsup: If only it was a viable replacement for sky+ I would get it earlier. My little lad would miss all the kids channels from sky if I got rid of it. As for me I don't watch sport and rarely watch anything but the main 4 channels. Only thing worth watching on sky one is prison break or lost and both can be downloaded easily!

Do these boxes allow you to pause tv like with Sky plus??

That is exactly the boat I am in. (my own viewing habits and my sons love of the Sly-only kids channels)

But one thing to think about.....how much a month are you paying for Sly.....now is the cost of the Humax going to reduce by this much?

e.g. I pay £18 a month,....so if I waited 6 months, say, then I'd have forked out £108......I doubt very much that the Humax would reduce to £190 in 6 months time....but even if it did I'd be no worse off.....you see what I'm saying?

Yeah I see what you are saying. We are still in contract for a few months too but the real issue is the lack of channels. We had a humax single tuner freeview recorder but did not record much as there was nothing worth recording! If the freesat platform gets some good new channels it would be good. It would be nice if it actually challenged sky but I doubt this will happen, shame really.

Please can you tell me what the difference in the product's performance would be if you only connected via normal sky (rather than via a Sky+ connection)? I live in flats where there is 'free' communal Sky installed but apparently they can't (or won't :x) upgrade it to enable Sky+.

Does it, for instance mean that you can't pause live TV??

Thanks - any info gratefully received :)

btw: I only use Freeview at the moment anyway, but want to get a combined PVR/receiver. I was gonna go with the Humax PVR9150T 160GB (£129 - Argos) but am now wondering whether to push the boat out for the FreeSat.

This a current list of freesat channels available:
http://www.joinfreesat.co.uk/index.php/freesat-channels
I bought a new Sky zone 1 dish with quad lnb, cable and fitting kit for £30 off ebay and "threw" it up in an afternoon. Hook up a Freesat (or old sky) box and get a good quality TV picture..good for folks who get poor terrestial and Freeview reception.

Voted hot. They honoured a 10% discount for me.

Now the 10% discount removed from the Comet product web page.

Comet haven't a clue, have they!

Search comet website for 'Discount Codes'

Scroll down to HUM10: 10% off ALL Humax digital TV recorders......click the link.....page lists 4 items, the Foxsat-HDR being one of them!

So why have they now decided to remove the HUM10 code advert from the item description?

After all, the Foxsat-HDR IS a Humax Digital TV recorder.....is it not?

Guess they're trying to wriggle out of giving a £30 discount on an item that's only just released (for sale) today.

Yes...Freeview PVR's (Personal Video Recorders) have been out for ages. You don't have to have Freesat to use them either and they have a bigger capacity then Sky+ (40 hours). They are digi boxes that do everything that SKy+ boxes do without the contract. check out the Humax PVR-9150T or PVR-9200T, both pretty cheap at Argos.
#23
Looks like they have wriggled out of it. It is no longer up in the discount section.
