You can now export HD recordings from this PVR by using the "Foxy" application:

And Humax have just had their HDCP licence revoked!

Re: "Humax have just had their HDCP licence revoked!"

Can you enlighten further? I can't find anything about this on the net.

I'm considering this even though we don't get Freeview HD here until next year - but the price is quite tempting...about £235 after Quidco....

Do you think I should wait until next year? I'd assume any changes there might be between now and then would be firmware updates only?

Poor joke - HDCP has nothing to do with Freeview HD. The only danger is the BBC revoking a manufacturers right to use the Huffman tables which encode the EPG.

John Lewis should be able to price match this since they have physical stores.

But what would be the advantage - just matching. Order online via Quidco and get another £15 off eventually. Free delivery [only 2 days to me in NI] too.....

I think I'm right in saying that these come with a standard 2 year warranty?

You may be right, but I think I'd want to check that with Best Buy - Humax warranties vary (amazingly) according to where they're purchased. I may have missed it, but I don't think the Best Buy site mentions the warranty period - just the (expensive) extended warranty options.
#10
Best Buy tell me it's only a one year warranty with them - not good news. That rules it out for me.
#11
Hmmmm, that's a bit of a bummer for me too...

I know that older Humax PVR stuff had a 2 year standard warranty - was stated on the box as part of the artwork, so assumed this might still be the case...

Ah well...thanks.

EDIT

Actually I see it says 2 years on the Humax direct site http://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/product.asp?ProdRef=10095&cat=stb though of course it's priced there at £299...

Same here - wonder (but doubt) if they'll drop their price instore to match Best Buy. They should do, if the 'never knowingly undersold' means anything at all.

Just got an email confirmation through from JL saying that they will price match Best Buy. I would expect their web site to be updated within a day or so accordingly.

Hopefully this will be the case as the BestBuy deal is no longer available for home delivery :(

yep it was a poor joke. but humax now fails to "frustrate attempts to defeat the content protection requirements".

studio->broadcaster->humax->torrentsphere

that's not good for humax

Just ordered via John Lewis, after they accepted the price match. I buy at £299, but when I received unit I call them and then they refund the difference.

e.g.

I have looked into your request and will be happy to match the price of £249.99 for the Humax HDR-FOX T2 500GB seen at Best Buy.

To place this order with us please call on 08456 049 049 and quote reference number XXXXXX. Please note the price difference will be refunded after the order has been billed.

That's several of us now that have got the lower price from John Lewis. No doubt at all, then, that John Lewis are aware that they're being undersold.

And yet, despite all their promises about 'never knowingly undersold', they are being undersold on this, and they know about it.

The price they're charging is still £299, though, and they'll probably leave it at that. How they get away with this sort of misleading advertising, goodness knows. Presumably nobody's bothered to report them to the ASA.

I've just submitted a pricematch request online with Sainsburys. Also had let Amazon know of the lower price, but they haven't matched so far either....

Only thing about dealing direct, is losing the extra £15 odd discount ordering from Bestbuy using Quidco. :(

As I don't live near a Best Buy and they are no longer delivering, I got John Lewis to price match it as well. Will pick it up tomorrow as I walk past the Newcastle store anyway. Been looking at one of these for a while now:)
#21
They wouldn't price match for me as Bestbuy don't have any in stock 'for home delivery' :(

However I rang BB and they are hoping for another delivery around 18th/19th so I have put it on a 'wishlist' where I should be notified immediately once they come in again :)

Will have to check this out. Does this allow you to play HD files on your PC?

I've got the 320GB version, can't recommend it highly enough love it! Only slight issue is the remote. Looking at upgrading the HDD soon, anyone on here done so?

Yes. There is no 320GB version of this recorder - you must mean the Freesat version?

I must be the last person to get a price match with JL!!Saw in another store Saturday 21st but on phoning Best Buys they said they were completely out of stock and wouldn't be having anymore before the price offer expires on the 1st June,so I thought I'd missed the boat!.However to my surprise I got a phone call form JL yesterday morning 23rd to say they would match the offer ,just waiting for the confimation letter which I understand you then have 28 days to buy at that price.
