Argos where doing this for £99 a while ago. The fan is very noisy on these models, have to turn it off at night time as it is inthe bedroom

I think you will find there is no match between a Tevion and a Humax.

If you had waited you may have got the Tevion in the BOC

u can set the humax to turn itself off at a set time and back onagain in the morning to laod the guide before u wake up.
i love my humax, the very best thing since sky+ and the only freeview box that truly matches it.

though......... the new freesat HD pvr by humax is to be launched anytime now (they claimed before xmas) so i forsee these gettting cheaper still pretty soon.

Got this model and its superb, very noisy though as stated above but works so much better than the cheapy ones.

the sound you here may be the hard drive resonating through your stand. I put pads undermine and it did help a lot.

i bought the 9200 version a few months back when argos were selling for £99.99, great deal. you can record 2 programmes at once and potentially watch another recorded one.

The noise is the fan but on the 9200 model but switches off when you press the off button on the remote. It only spins round when its on, not just recording.
Anyway mines in the lounge so cant hear it, but cant understand why so many people have theres in their bedroom? Oh well personal choice i suppose!

I've had a Humax PVR for 4 years, great products. Also Have BT Vision, which is surpisingly good, with the new firmware.

can you get setanta sports on this ?

You got a Humax for £39.99?, I somehow doubt it.

Any other make isn't anywhere nearly as good as the Humax.

If you're a bit 'techy', the Topfield is every bit as good as the Humax, (although it takes more setting up out of the box), but you'd not get one of those for £39.99 either.

Fair comment, but they cost an arm and a leg, well over £119.99.;-)

I've had the 9200TBX for the last 4 months and I really do love it.

Be advised however that if you're buying this for the Series Record (freeview+) option it WILL often miss the very start / the very end of some recordings. This apparently is down to the broadcaster not sending the correct signal at the correct time.

You can disable Series Link and use auto-padding of recordings but this isn't ideal if you record a lot of series (as I do). Unfortunately you can't use both auto-padding and series link. On the forthcoming freesat PVR you can however.

That said it's an awesome product and a worthy alternative to Sky+ for the freeview channels.

I very much doubt this was a Humax! The Humax is in my opinion the top of the range in PVR's.

Not all PVR's are the same. It's like comparing a BWM to a Skoda.

will this work with Virgin Media? (ie. recording channels directly from the VM box?)

Call me pedantic but I think you'll find that 1am & 7am are both in the morning. There, I feel much better.

No it will only record from its internal tuners

I've had my Humax for four years now but the noisy fans in the newer models concern me and don't encourage an upgrade.

Get the 9200 model instead and you can use a CAM card to watch Setanta via freeview.

I've received a 9300 on the weekend after the hard disk in my 9200 failed in warranty.
I have to say I am shocked by the noise levels on the new unit to the extent that I'm going to take it back, its all I can hear in the lounge even with my sony bravia theatre (£699 rrp £169 from currys!!! thanks HUKD:-D) at a decent level.
Really poor from Humax, I've been using these for 4-5 years. Apparently, you can get an equivalent silent fan for £5 but it will invalidate the warranty as you need to modify the connectors.
#29
Good boxes, but I still think after using a Human, a thommo (absolute rubbish) and a Topfield, the Toppy is the best, the picture quality by itself was immense

I just bought two of the new Humax 9300T models and they are awesome, yes the fan is noisy. but if you can wire a three pin plug you can easy change the fan for a silent one as I did on both of mine and they are now silent :w00t:. >HERE< is the info on changing the fan only cost me a fiver.
