this is a great deal. humax recently sold off refurbs for the same price. it looks like this is the full model, as there is a lower model with a few functions removed that's cheaper. if it's the model i have it has a USB connection to copy files to your pc
#2
so does that thing come with a topup tv card etc? or is this just the box...?
#3
Bargain, I paid £199.99 for one of these, admittedly 2 years ago. Still as good as the day i bought it...brilliant box.
#4
Can anyone link to a cheap topuptv cam that works with this, searching on the internet leads to loads of cams that only work if the box already has a slot which the humax doesn't........
#5
Great Machine this, i've had mine for 18 months after my inverto packed up, and before the inverto I had the Topfield which packed up too!!!

The Humax knocks spots off both especially with the series link feature which was enabled at Christmas.

A few days ago I was disappointed that I’d just missed ordering one from Dixons for about £139 and now this pops up! I’ve reserved one from a local store.

It wouldn’t allow me to order by mail although the option was showing; it said no stock after entering my post code!

Hot! I think I paid about £150 for mine. I would find it difficult to live without a PVR now and the Humax is top quality and easy to use.
There is a newer, higher spec model just out, the 9300 which has HDMI and a larger hard disk but the reviews of those haven't been too good and I think they are about £70 more.

Excellent price and product purchased one about 3 weeks ago and very pleased with it.
Good forum here for help http://www.hummy.org.uk/forums/

Don't pc world have some kind of price promise where you get 10% of the difference back?
PC world have this at £179.99, so if I'm correct, potentially another £8 saved

Reserved mine! Had been looking at the Thomson 6300 for £99 but wasn't convinced and didn't want to pay £150+ for the Humax 9200. Glad I waited!

Eh mine has a slot? Are you sure?

Can this machine work with my Virgin cable box?
Will the Humax show the titles of the programme from the cable box?
Cheers in advance

No, you can't record from an external source e.g. a Virgin or Sky box. You also need an aerial, the cable from Virgin doesn't carry the digital terrestrial signal.

My mistake - can you just put a setanta card straight in then or do you need to buy a cam??
#25
anybody know whether it is worth waiting for the freesat pvrs?

also, seeing that its available for £99, the price of this is sure to come down or be matched by other stores from now on...

This is end of line so it’s a clearance deal; you’re unlikely to see them cheaper.

You need a CAM.

what about this as an alternative inc ci slot and has hdmi and upscales to 1080i ,the Wharfedale LP250DTRHDMI 250Gb DTR only £20 dearer at argos

When I was looking for a CAM the best I could find was buying the Setanta starter pack direct from Setanta or an authorised supplier. In the end I got lucky and got one off ebay for £15 brand new but admittedly that was outside the footy season. I think that prices direct from Setanta were about £25 - £30 which when I was looking appeared about half of what other CAMs cost.

This box isn't in the new catalogue but great voted ho like the pc transfer opiton it ust be part of their bank holiday deals

awesome deal!

Thanks OP, I managed to reserve one. I was looking at the black refurbs on the Humax website. I'm glad they were out of stock now. :-D

Michael, I've been looking into various PVR's over the last few weeks. I very nearly bought the Wharfedale but had a quick look on Digital Spy. The Wharfedale has some serious software problems causing it to freeze quite a lot. There is a new Sagem available from Argos which has also HDMI but no card slot. It's £129.99 and would be a far better option if you want HDMI.
Personally I'm going for the Humax. Humax and Topfield are the 'Daddies' of PVR's at the moment. Really good boxes and well worth the money. Mine's reserved and I'll let you know what it's like when I get it.

Depends. Humax Freesat HD PVR (which is what i'd get) won't be out for another 4 months at least and will cost approx £300. I've got Sky+ at the moment and am paying £20 a month so getting rid of Sky+ means this box is paid for within 5 months. At that point I may just buy a cheap non-PVR HD freesat box which will probably have dropped to below £100 so will be able to view in HD. I don't record much and if I do SD will be fine.

I have the new 9300T which replaces this model. Much better stereo seperation, half the size, much lower power consumption and a little more responsive. Also has HDMI and a larger HDD. Interface is the same otherwise.

and £90 more expensive.

Would this allow a VGA connection to my TV?

Thinking of buying one as a temporary setup while I fix my ever failing media centre box!

I've been trying to sum up the courage to buy a PVR, but would need a freeSat equivalent - anyone got any suggestions? Budget end.... obviously...

... and no PC link despite what is claimed on the Humax website. See this thread.

The upscaling/HDMI port is a debatable benefit.

I thought the new models didn't have a cam slot?
