Freeview with HDMI upscaling. Got one myself, nice bit of kit and it no longer has the noisy fan issue.

Been this price for a few weeks now, same at Laskys.com also

Almost the same price at Richer Sounds; only a quid more.

Amazon .. Argos etc. only give one year standard manufacturers warranty on Humax products.

The free HDMI cable is supplied by Humax .. it's included in every product box .. regardless of who supplies the unit.

Satbuyer .. Comet .. Laskys .. and John Lewis give a free two year manufacturers warranty with this Humax product!

Manufacturers 2 year warranty is a swap out warranty operated directly by Humax UK.

That was LAST year my friend .. things have changed .. phone Argos or Amazon NOW and ask them how long the warranty period is?. :whistling: Answer ONE YEAR!

Look at this link for Humax Freesat products ...

The clue is where it states "2 year warranty".

I know these are Humax Freesat products .. but the same applies to their Freeview products.

Thought I'd advise consumers' of the difference.. it's not only the price .. but the HUMAX warranty period.

Call Humax on 0870 247 8800 or 0870 7189 677 Mon - Fri 9am - 5pm. As I did two months ago and was advised of the different warranty supplied by Humax depending where the product was purchased.

I also called Argos and Amazon and they both confirmed a one year Humax manufacturers warranty appplied to their Humax products.

csiman is talking about a time when all Humax products shipped with a 2 year warranty card inside the box. It doesn't work that way now.

I'm trying to advise potential buyers' of the pitfalls of Humax pricing and warranty periods ..

Anyway check out the warranty period from the retailer before you purchase any Humax products.

Seems to be the only retailer selling the Humax FOXSAT-HD Satellite Receiver with a 2 YEAR WARRANTY for £132 delivered.

Every other retailer including John Lewis @ £129 includes a standard a One Year manufacturers warranty.

One advantage of buying from Richer Sounds; you can extend the warranty to 5 years (Supercare) for an extra £16.95; then get the money back if you haven't claimed on the extended warranty. So all it really costs is the rate of inflation compounded over 5 years; about 5-25% of the £16.95, depending on how inflation fares over the next five years.

Frankly, Richer's Supercare is the only extended warranty on the market that's worth bothering with.

Yea I agree .. but if it's between a free one year or two year manufacturers warranty at similair pricing .. one has to vote for the free 2 year warranty.

I agree with your statement about extended warranties with Richer Sounds .. it's just their TV delivery charges are so expensive if one doesn't live near to a branch to collect.

Wonderful place this internet for information ...

PS Bob-Cat forum member is employed by Humax.

Bob-Cat states ...

"It is incorrect to say that "all products" from "every retailer" carry the same warranty, you should check with your retailer as to their terms of sale on the product."

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of that - assumed they all carried the same Humax warranty. That's bizarre, and you have to assume that some retailers are able to put more pressure on Humax than others.

In theory, though, you've got the potential for a SOGA claim against the retailer at any point up to 6 years. Much easier up to month 6, but even beyond that it's perfectly feasible if you can show that it was reasonable to expect the item to last longer than the time it did. Up to around 2-3 years you should be on pretty firm ground, but if you can't persuade the retailer to accept that you may have to go to the local County Court.

Your welcome my friend ..

I also wrongly thought that all current Humax products were covered by a two year warranty.

Because my older Humax PVR 9200T's have nicely printed on the outside of their green & yellow boxes ..

"2 year manufacturer guarantee"

It doesn't state that on any of the newer white Humax product boxes now!

Does it csiman? :whistling:

Humax are great to deal with .. I called them about a month old PVR 9300T that wouldn't power up any more.

I provided the sales information date of purchase where purchased price paid. That's when I was informed of the warranty differences.

DHL arrived next morning with a Humax box containing the swop out unit .. he just checked the serial number matched his paperwork and that was it. You keep the original manual, cables, remote etc.

I could have gone back to the retailer for a brand new replacement .. but that would have taken ages to complete.

As I have had several Humax products for years I had no worries with the swop out unit, and as it happened it still had the sticky film over the display windows etc .. so as new anyway.

When I called Humax a couple of months ago to question the different warranty periods on their products ..

I was informed that the one or two year manufacturers warranty was applied depending on the wholesale price paid.

So some retailers of Humax products pay a little more, and can therefore offer as advertised in my links a two year manufacturers warranty.

I have noticed John Lewis frequently switch the Humax warranty period for the Humax Foxsat HD Receiver ... currently offered with a one year warranty ...

Note that the Humax Foxsat HDR & Humax PVR 9300T both have two year guarantees .. but not the Humax Foxsat HD Receiver ...

This link will not work for csiman ... It's only for those willing to listen to a bit of free and friendly advise.

The clue was in the warranty by HUMAX :whistling:

The clue is in my links to the products and the warranty periods offered.

Not your outdated and unhelpful comments. :x

If anyone is thinking of buying HUMAX products .. IMO you will have made a wise choice ..

Just make sure you buy correctly .. and are covered by a two year manufacturers warranty at no or very little difference in price.
