We have had one in our bedroom for about a year and you can hardly hear it. I doubt you would hear it at all in a lounge or living room.
I didn't think it had a fan I thought it was just the disk spinning that you hear.

What is the sensitivity of the Digital Tuners like in these Humax machines - will they be able to pick up a weakish signal OK??

This is a blinding price btw thanks.
#7
Got one already but brilliant price, this machine is flawless and a godsend - never had a problem and doubt I will ever fill the hard drive!
If you have a weakish signal you might not pick up sky news and sky three + a couple of other channels. The rest should be ok.
Assume there must be a newer model coming out soon/next year if they are willing to reduce to clear for this price?!?

Voted SCORCHING hot!

I've never had a signal problem, but then I'm not that far fro the transmitter... The picture is very clear and crisp on mine.

I think you need the 9200TB (the £200 black version) for Freeview Playback.

From Wiki: All Freeview Playback receivers are required to include the following features[2]:-.

At least 8 Day Electronic Programme Guide (EPG)
Series Link (one timer to record whole series)
Record split programmes as one programme
Offer to record related programme
Record alternative showing if there is a time conflict
Schedule changes updated in standby (e.g. scheduled recording starting early)
Accurate recording (equivalent to PDC - programmes are recorded based on signals from the broadcaster rather than scheduled time)

All existing 9200 PVR will be made Freeview playback compatible with a software upgrade at some point (transmitted over the air). I have download the latest software from their website, which was fairly straight forward. ;-)

Out of Stock now - I hope my order went through in time. Thanks to the OP

Software is very easily installed from the website the only bit of kit you need is Null modem cable I believe they call it

Voted hot. My humax 9200 is just short of 2 years old and works brilliantly. An excellent price:thumbsup:

I bought one 12 months ago, it really has changed the way we watch TV. We paid £180 for it then, but well worth it.

Even the wife agrees!

damm... missed it!

I am doubtful these will come back in stock, as most likely clearance. Oh well,

Seems like it has been replaced..

£169? tempting.. quite a bit cheaper than the old one's retail (non clearance) price.

I have a humax PVR 9200T, I've had it for 2 years and 10 months (Christmas pressie) at the time it cost £229 before postage and I can say without a shadow of doubt it is the best peice of kit I have ever had, it has totally changed the way I watch TV.

If it broke tomorrow I would be out the same day to replace it and if I had to pay £229 again then so be it, I wouldn't bat an eyelid. Now that's saying something as I'm not called 50p for nothing.

Relax, look forward to getting it and enjoy it when you do.

Does the Wharfedale support recording 2 shows whilst simultaneously either watching another live channel or a previous recording? Does it have a good interface and remote control? Does it allow transfer of files to a PC using USB?

I’ll have had this particular Humax model for two years next month and it’s highly recommended.
#31
Wharfedale is single tuner isn't it? That would rule it out for me what ever price it was!

Wharfedale is half price at the mo at Argos (twin tuner / single channel record).

Hopefully they'll get them back in stock.

I agree. I've been on the lookout for one of these at £150 or less for ages and missed the posting yesterday evening because I was out. I contacted our two local stores and neither have them in stock.

If you check avforums and alot of the other tv type forums (and probably this one also), they will all say the best pvrs to go for will be either the Topfield or the Humax although both come out at a bit higher in cost, but both are well made, high spec and easy to update firmware on. I have looked at the cheapy jobs that we see on here on a regular basis but have resisted so far based on extensive research and the above recommendations. Needless to say, this is a very hot deal and my cc got a bashing last night because there were only 4 left when I checked and I had to have one.
You wont be disappointed.

Thanks for the feedback

will try the humax and if its too buzzy I can return it with 28 days for a full refund

Mine arrived this morning - interestingly they have shipped the black 9200TB model.

I've already got a silver one, which I can only re-iterate the above comments about - it is a superb piece of kit. Would be even better if you could transfer records between PVR's, so you could finish watching a recorded program in the bedroom for instance.

But isn't "freeview playback" just a marketing gimmick ? http://www.freeview.co.uk/products/dtr - seems to list everything most freeview PVR's have been doing for years (even my old PACE twin) - or am I missing the point?

AlanB, I think you got a result there, as I believe the new 'TB' model incorporates a 'series record' function, which the original 9200T didn't have.
Can you confirm this?

(I have a 9200T and have been delighted with it ever since it was released).
