The fine folks at The Humble Indie Bundle are back and have teamed up with developers Frozenbyte to bring you 5 games for whatever you're willing to pay. Be it 1 penny or £1,000,000.

The promotion is due to go live at 9.30am PST which is 5.30pm GMT. The games included are Trine, Shadowgrounds and Shadowgrounds Survivor. You also recieve an unfinished project in the form of Jack Claw and a pre-order for a future title, Splot. You also recieve the original soundtracks for Trine and the two Shadowground games.

You can split the price you pay however you want between the developers and two seperate charities: Child's Play and the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

These are the current steam prices for the 3 titles currently availible:

Trine - £16.99
Shadowgrounds - £5.99
Shadowgrounds Survivor - £8.99

Heat added. It's a good deal just for trine but as it's for charity let's hope there aren't too many paying a penny....

I already have Trine, anyone know if I can gift the new copy?

#6
Anyone played Shadowgrounds? - it's got good reviews on Metacritic.
#7

I already have Trine and both Shadowgrounds - I bought the first one when it came out. It's an excellent game.

I'll put a few quidpounds into this just for the preorder of the new game :)

The bundle comes without copy protection, so it's probably up to you whether you want to pass your copy on. The Steam version can only be redeemed once though.

Trine is a fantastic game. Played it on PS3 and loved it.

This is such a great offer - props to the developers for giving their time and energy for a good cause. Hopefully people realise that the money is going to charity and don't all end up paying one penny.

Yeah, I loved it. Had a sort of Alien Breed feel, but without being **** like the newer Alien breed games.

If you watch the video on the website linked to this deal you'll see that you can 'gift' the package to somebody else.

Cracking deal. The games look brilliant! :)

Its the steam keys that are the killer for me, makes it so much easier having all my games in one place as I reinstall every 6 months. I'll give Trine to my GFs son :)

That prototype at the end looks like it might be fun.

Also, lol @ "you can dry your tears on the source code"!

Ordered Indie bundle 2, then then gave me the first one free as a thank you.

Have Shadowground, Agree with the other posters, very Alien Breed, well worth getting.
Definitely will get, will give most of the donation to charity this time as Frostbyte are published software house.
Played the demo for Trine, very clever physics game, this one needs a lot of thinking through.

Yeah, so much better when you lose all your games when your account gets hacked, rather than just some of them :p

EDIT: I'm actually a fan of Steam, but at the end of the day it is still DRM and there is still a risk if something happens to your account or the Steam servers.

There are a limited number available though aren't there? Certainly was last time, seems a tad unfair to order a second one for a penny, when I could just gift one I already own. I won't be paying a penny anyway, probably a fiver or so.

I've never actually met anyone that has had their steam account hacked, although I know it happens. They've been quite good with me in the past, like when a mate used my PC and logged into his steam account, then installed my new copy of Dawn of War onto it! A few emails back and forwards and the game was moved to my own account again, can't see why you can't get hacked accounts back?

Nice! Excellent games too. I'll be doing this as soon as it's up, great games, great cause, love what these guys do.
#31
For a bit of balance...

Trine, for me, wasn't great. Some of the mechanics are fun but it offers no challenge what so ever - why would a game do that. Maybe yer kids will enjoy it a lot more.

Shadowgrounds...meh. Is okay. Never played a lot of it though. Too many other cheap Steam games that were better.

#2 finished in December last year, it's #3 they're doing now.

Looking at the details for #2 - the average contribution for a windows user was $6.68
#34
Good to see them doing another bundle. Will check this out once I'm back from work so the links don't get blocked. Always a plus if you can have the option to link them into Steam.

Don't worry about it, it gives us the opportunity to act all high & mighty.

Trine is nothing special (apart from graphics), definitely not worth the full price unless you haven't played anything better in the past. Shadowgrounds is OK but age has taken its toll on it, whereas Shadowgrounds Survivor is a lot better. Neither of them can beat Crimsonland though 8)

Still, there is no way you can go wrong with a "pay what you want" deal.
#38
If you have any retail games tied to the account then you can definitely get it back. My friend is an idiot and had the weakest password ever, got hacked but as he bought Left 4 Dead retail he told Valve, sent them proof of ownership for L4D and got his account back.
