Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games trilogy transports readers to a dystopian future world where teenagers are forced to take part in a deadly game to win favour for themselves and their village. When Katniss becomes a contestant, she is convinced she won't return, but as she enters the life-or-death world of the televised game, she finds that she's stronger than she thought. Can she triumph against the odds and find a future for herself? Totally unputdownable, this series is a must for any young adult's bookshelf. The trilogy is set to find a whole new legion of fans with the release of the Gary Ross-directed film, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson, so now is the perfect time to immerse yourself in these action-packed adventures!

I persevered and got to the end of book three, I know where you're coming from though.
Butler did it BTW.
I agree, although I persevered and finished the third. Such a shame because the first book really was great.
Still a good price for the set though I suppose.

Boy's books rather girl's according to my son. He enjoyed them.
Annoyingly good price.:D
<----Middle-aged bloke, currently about three quarters of the way through the first book. It's definitely a bit girly, but you'll not be laughed at for reading it in public - and it isn't a bad read at all (though far from a classic!)
It's clichéd to say, but the book is a lot better than (and worth reading before watching) the film, btw. I watched the film a few weeks back and thought it okay but with a lot of holes. As is usually the case, there are a lot less holes in the book. I think most people will have done it the other way 'round (i.e. book before film) and won't notice how patchy the film is because their mind is automatically remembering/filling in the blanks.
I still have no idea how a tiny group of individuals keep bumping into each other all the time in an area that appears to be around 100 square miles, though...
Well the inside front cover refers to it as a Children's book.
That said, I took the plunge and, 30 pages in, am enjoying it.
For sub £5 it is worth a go (IMO)
Book 3 I only finished as a more of wanting to know the ending. It definitely wasn't the best book of the series.
