Was about to order from one of the restaurants showing the stopwatch icon, and then the icon disappeared! Seems like the restaurant can pull it if they get busy
#2
It's a gimmick tried to do this last night and when i ordered it said order not valid for hungry house express despite showing the icon. i think the take away can refuse the time slot
#3
None near me do it :(

#7
Voted cold like the food you'll get using this service. Sorry OP
#8
Like someone above said, none near me so pretty much useless.
#9
Great if it works but looks like it's a bit nonsensical in reality

bet food quality will suffer with this

my house is so hard to find i have takeaways (on the rare occasion i have 1) ringing me all the time cus they dont know where it is lol.....would be good to try but i bet theres measures in place so they never lose out.
#12
18 participating in my postcode, the number of times I've ordered online in the past and it's come 30mins plus after they promised I may give this a go!
#13
Also looking on the website the only express restaurants are the ones which are around the corner if i put a different postcode which is 10 mins away it will bring up express restaurants which should be also on my original postcode...basically crappy gimmic that will not fail.

Reminds me of men behaving badly! Lol

It's probably from when the takeaway accepts the actual order (probably take a long time so they don't go over 45 mins).
Also does anyone know what free meal is, like an identical meal as the last one or....

you have 3 days to make a claim via hungry house, hungry house will investigate the claim, then if your claim is valid (which i suppose the restaurant will say you are lying) you will get a voucher for the amount that you spent on the takeaway.

Put a claim through, restaurant was 15 mins late, my claim was denied. Guess they didn't want to pay out.
#20
Yeah, they could always contest it, I wonder how they settle something like that, it's one person's word against another's.

I used a Chinese place in Sheffield about 2 months ago, and after well over an hour it hadn't arrived, so called them, "it's on it's way", 30 mins later, called again "oh, it will be sent out soon" (I though it was on its way), another 30 mins I called to cancel, and 20 mins later it finally arrived. More annoying as I'd paid extra for the delivery.

Make a huge order so that they're bound to be late

Free food! :)

i know this malasian restaurant that never deliver in less than 1 hour, ever.
#24
We should set up a group to get free meals where everyone orders their food at exactly the same time. Good luck delivering a few thousand dinners in 45 minutes mwahahaha!
#25
voted cold due to the take aways being able to turn it off if they get busy
#26
gimmick dot com.
#27
nice idea in theory but I would rather when busy they say 'about an hour' and have it done right or cancel than risk them throwing out any rubbish to meet the 45 mins promised.
#28
No-one is going to agree to this unless they know they can deliver within 45 mins....otherwise they will just switch it off. I would rather them give you a fixed time to deliver and then if they miss that time you get the meal free....and do this on a permanent basis with no switch off option. My deliveries are always late and would like to get some sort of compensation, apart from stale prawn crackers!

Cold - nice idea, won't work.

They will probably spit in the free meal

Oddly enough, the one I always use are not participating, although they always deliver my orders on time...oh well, heated.

11 near me :)
Also got an email from them today for 20% on a Tuesday (using the app) APPYDAY

Place I normally order from accepts orders within about 30 seconds to a minute.

Because they are now offering this, they didn't accept the order for 10 minutes, at which point the 45 minute count down starts.

Disappointing, and actually, I'll be less inclined to use them in future because they're dishonest.

From T&Cs:

"The 45 minute time period begins when the Customer receives the order submission email, following the placement of their order and ends with the delivery of the ordered goods at the specified delivery location. Only a successfully submitted and confirmed order can participate in "hungryhouse Express". "

You get two emails when you order through HH, the order confirmation (pending) and the acceptance - I'm assuming from the T&Cs that it starts from the time you actually place the order - eg when you get the first email - but I've emailed them for clarification.

I just read that in the T & C and came to post it here. Thanks for pointing it out!

The takeaway was 12 minutes late in that case. I'm not going to bother with a claim because I don't want spit in my food next time ;)

It's from the time you submit the order, not when it's accepted.

Hi Kneale, when you get the email the order can still be in the submitted stage so the clock has already started counting from there, so if the restaurant is very late to confirm the order you can still claim for it. All participating restaurants use our fastest relay method with this in mind.

Ordered a takeaway last Saturday, it took over 2 hours to come (extra busy because of Eurovision!). Put the claim in and had the money in my account on Monday.

Put a claim through, restaurant was 15 mins late, my claim was denied. Guess they didn't want to pay out.

Same thing happened to us but it was rectified via the live chat and our claim subsequently was approved.

The details you enter in the form need to match the details within the account. For example; our claim did not go through because the phone number we put was different to that on file.

It's a terrible service, my food arrived 20-25 minutes later than the 45 minute guarantee from a participating takeaway, while the food arrived with a missing item and the starters and sauces were spilled in the bag.

I told HH about it and I was dealt with a rude person on the livechat, who told me I wasn't supposed to receive that item and he didn't care, while another customer service rep told me he didn't follow protocol and the missing item was supposed to be included, as it clearly states it in the menu, so I should escalate the issue to management.
As a result, I was not only refused of the free meal but I was also banned from using HH and they also stated that I have a history of using promotional vouchers, so they consider me to be a bad customer, although we use them all the time and also pay full price, so be warned about promo codes and complaining about this 45 minute guarantee.

Works!
My order was 20 mins late submitted this 2 days later had credit back in account to use (£10). Minus delivery charge and 50p card surcharge. :D
