Is it possible to get the 64 bit Pro version from anywhere?

Just ordered mine - many thanks op.

I'm not a vista hater like some but have mainly only heard positive things about 7.

Missed all the other deals as been away so was glad to see this one.

PC WORLD still £44.95 inc delivery

I just bought my second copy after buying a copy in first week. I was deciding whether to upgrade both my computers. As the offer is nearly out of stock that made up my mind !!

I'd pay £45 for a new OS, Vista's definitely the lease stable I've ever used but £79, I'd just wait a get it included on a new PC

was contemplating getting this offer, it is a great offer price. I have had windows 7 in a virtual machine for a couple of weeks, and it does seem nice but 2 be honest, its pretty much still like xp to me, with a nicer front end. There are no features that i sat up and thought WOW this will change the way i work!!

Hurry, I just ate a Curry!
#21
Sorry if this is obvious but can i just load this into my machine running on Vista, or do i need a new computer?
#22
gosh... the pressure made me order :(

i hope it doesnt go down below 45 in the next months...
#23
Feeling a bit left out here - have had no trouble with Vista apart from occasional minor glitch. Think the search facility is poor and the folder customisation is annoying. Tried a beta version of 7 but could not see any major advantages. At the system level the latest version of Ubuntu runs very smoothly, but still does not have all the apps I want.

lol so true.
#25
@ jack bauer, yes you can install it on your machine, but you will need to do a clean install. which means basically it will wipe you r hard drive and start FRESH, there is not UPGRADE optiuon.
#26
Still £45 is £45

when is the cracked version getting released

lol
#27
don't buy any OS on release date, it is going to be full of bugs and glitches still.

So if petrol fell to 50p a litre you would wait until it went back up to £1 to buy it?

Normally I would agree, but it seems MS might have learnt their lesson this time via the mass release of Windows 7 Beta and RC1. My son and I have been running both without a single problem. They even work fine boot-camped on my Macbook.
#36
wouldnt bother with the home edition if ur looking for the xp compatability id go for professional
#37
Done and dusted, thanks !

but everyone IS buying hence all the retailers are out of stock...

Currenlty running xp on a 4 year old 3.0 pentium I think, 2g ram, what benefits will W7 give me if any or is my PC going to slow down? Can't see how the analogy with petrol works unless you change your OS every week.
#40
Have a think first ....
If you are going to buy a new ready built PC in the next year or two - it'll more than likely come pre-loaded - so save the £45 quid (or the £90 for the Pro version) towards that.

Any one know if you still get a free upgrade to Win7, from Vista, if you buy a new machine from Dell, etc at the moment?
