Hybrio are pretty decent rechargeable batteries that retain their charge better than most, in my experience.

Which store was this please?

I have been keeping an eye on my local stores for a couple of months now but never land lucky - will try and get in today.

Cheers,

It was Fulwood in Preston. I've looked for months too.

I paid £3 for 4 about a month ago. Asda Chapeltown (Sheffield). They only had 2 packs and I've not seen them restock any since then.

Does anyone know if you can use a standard ni-mh battery recharger with these hybrio batteries?

What bugs me about this site is people putting stuff on that is local to their tiny little district. NOT national, not listed on website, not available to me. This is the third deal in a row I have been tempted to look at that turns out to be local to a place nowhere near me. Yea it sounds good, but is it a UK (as in national) hot deal......?

Sorry if we don't all live in the metropolis, but my tiny little district is actually a relatively large town (now a city) - how do you know it's not national?

This wasn't a manager / store special price.

It's been posted here in the past and found nationally so my guess is that these things just sell pretty damn quick - I bought 4 packs.

That's not really fair BeerGoggles - how could the op know whether it's a national or local deal?

These are great batteries and I'm after more so will be checking the local Asda as soon as I can.

Regarding the fast charge question I've never known the answer but since a set of 4 last at least 500 pictures in my camera and I've three sets I've never needed to risk the fast charger.

probably buy a bunch of these for my wiimotes and balance board

Sounds good, I'll check my local store tomorrow. what's the capacity ?

The hybrio batteries I had from Asda before were 2100mah - but bear in mind they perform much better than conventional 2100mah batteries.

To get 15 minute charging I think you need to use special batteries so ordinary batteries including these will charge but a lot slower.

What special batteries :? I use a 15 min charger with Hybrios no probs, The only thing I like to do is use a slower charger every 3 or 4 charges Just my personal preference no technical reason:thumbsup:

Thanks for the info wombat6025, that would do me. My local (Park Royal / NW London) being open 24Hrs I'll definitely be checking in the early hours !

Hybros are great batteries, best I've found, however a word of warning based on personal experience - I have a 15min Energizer charger and tried to charge my Hybros with it - I checked them after ten mins or so and the batteries had become very hot (too hot to touch). I turned the charger off at the mains and haven't tried the Hybros with the Energizer since. Could have been a one off issue, but thought I should share the story...

Does the charger have a built in fan, the two I use do:thumbsup:

are these with the batteries or some where else in the store, looked the last time and couldnt see them
#26
These ones were with the batteries near the checkouts, didn't check the photographic or entertasinment sections though.
#27
Have tried finding these at Asda soooo many times without success. I'm going to look AGAIN today.
Still - a great deal, voted HOT.

It would be near on impossible for non Asda staff to know if an offer in their store was regional, national, or local. But it only costs about 5p to call to check if you were not going already.

Fast chargers shorten batteries lives. You would be better buying a cheaper slower charger and an extra set(s) of batteries to keep a collection ready charged (which Hybrio does better than standard batteries).

If you do intend to call Asda to see if they have them - try a call to Homebase too - as when they are clearing stock you get the 800mAh AAAs and 2100mAh AAs for £2.24 to £2.49 for four. They also have Uniross 2500mAh for £2.98. I got enough to last me probably until 4000mAh AAs are available.

I've just spent a while searching round Asda Fulwood (Preston), and I've also spoken to the lady who deals with batteries.

Apparently these went on offer a couple of months ago, as we know, and all remaining stock was sold off (I bought the last few!). However, while clearing out the stockroom they found some more which they put out on display at, as the OP states, £3 for a pack of 4.

All the AA's are now gone (I found 2 packs which I bought, I'm pretty sure there aren't any more left) but there are still a dozen or more packs of AAA's at the battery display in the DVD/CD area.

Hope this helps,

Morf.

As at 5pm today, Asda Bedminster (Bristol) had some in stock. Bottom left of the batteries display (near self service checkouts), about 8 packs of 4xAA left, £3.
