There are other offers on PSN at the moment from the Digital Discounts, most games are on offer from 06/07/17 - 21/06/17

Echoes of a dark and violent past resonate throughout a savage land, steeped in treasure and blood. Hyper Light Drifter is an action adventure RPG in the vein of the best 16bit classics, with modernized mechanics and designs on a much grander scale.

Drifters of this world are the collectors of forgotten knowledge, lost technologies and broken histories. Our Drifter is haunted by an insatiable illness, traveling further into the lands of Buried Time, hoping to discover a way to quiet the vicious disease.

• From each character to subtle background elements, everything is lovingly hand-animated.
• Easy to pick up, difficult to master enemies are vicious and numerous, hazards will easily crush your frail body, and friendly faces remain rare.
• Upgrade weapons, learn new skills, discover equipment and traverse a dark, detailed world with branching paths and secrets abound.

Thoroughly recommended. Phenomenal game, especially at this price. Soundtrack is immense too.

From the store screenshots, it has a dated look (1990s?), I think I'll pass.

If this is your reason for *not* buying the game, you're very misguided. The game is supremely stylish, but where it shines is the very tight and satisfying action.

It's also a pretty stern challenge, which is why I've not progressed as afar as I'd have liked.

Really? Each to their own but have you not tried Bastion or Transistor which are both retro inspired...

Apparently some people don't understand that 8-bit and pixel art are two different things. The fact that you still have an opinion like this in 2017 ((_;)) is dumbfounding. I guess some people just don't get past CoD when it comes to their gaming knowledge and experiences.

Question to anyone that's played this, I've read and seen that at launch that the game has a very inconsistent frame rate that hindered the gaming experience, has this been addressed or is it inherent to the game engine? Thanks, very interested in this as apparently it's quite Zelda-esque?

Even then, I played pre-patch and had no issues with frame-rate.

It certainly has some similarities to Zelda, but with a fair amount of difference too.

That's good news, think I'll pull the trigger at that price then as that's the only thing that's been putting me off!

Thanks for the reply

Hi is this game difficult? I have heard some people say it's a bit like dark souls if said game came out 25 years ago.

Yes - see my earlier post, it gets pretty challenging.

That's a fair assessment actually. No part of the game is too difficult to overcome with a bit of practice and being careful. The bosses are a nightmare, but the sense of reward felt in defeating them is awesome.

Currently dredging my way through the monotony that is Mafia 3, so I am looking for something with a bit of a challenge and less repetitive. I hope this fits the bill.
