5.0 out of 5 stars the best nights sleep in ages, 30 May 2010

This review is from: Hypnia King Size Visco Memory Foam Mattress 8 Inch /20cm Thickness 150cm x 200cm inc 10 Year Guarantee FREE DELIVERY & MEMORY FOAM PILLOWS
We have been sleeping on this mattress for nearly 2 weeks and I have to say I am very impressed. I was a little dubious to start with as the price was fantastic but the first night I got into bed I was amased not to be in the usual pain that I am normally in when getting into bed, it normally takes ages for me to find a good position for my lower back but I got into bed and was comfy straight away fantastic!
A few points, friends of mine said they should not be used for 8hours after opening so we opened ours and left it to air with the window open for around 10 hours. Also there is a smell that comes off them but that will fade away with time (ours already smells much better and its not offensive).
They do take a bit of getting used to but they are well worth the money and the quality is excellent.
A lot of people have said that they find memory foam mattresses to be hot but we have not found that to be the case, it has a cool cover to it and that must help. We live in a dorma bungalow and the rooms upstairs on a sunny day get unbearably hot but even with the recent hot weather we were not at all uncomfortable with the mattress, and found it no different in temp to our old one.
I would recommend this mattress if you find you are in pain with aching joints and back problems as these days I can get out of bed in the morning and stand up straight somthing that I could not do for a good hour on our old mattress.(It sounds like I am an elderly person but I am 37)
Very pleased with it and a fantastic price.
Delivery was much faster than expected to and they let you know via email the day before they deliver :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous nights sleep......., 20 Feb 2010

Bought this because I was fed up of getting out of bed in the morning still feeling tired! Joints and back aching and never feeling like I'd had any quality sleep at all. I have to say that I've slept on this for the last two nights and things have improved already! No aches and pains so far and somehow I feel like I've slept really well. My only criticisms are that the mattress can make you feel a little overheated and I imagine that if we get any hot weather it might become unbearable. On the whole though, it does seem to improve sleep quality. Didn't much like the 'pillows' which came with this - hard as rock and not very restful to lay your head on at all, I find. However, they were included in the deal, so I didn't have the option to refuse them.

Had my doubts when I saw the low price but decided to give it a try as it comes with a 10 year guarantee and I thought that if it wasn't up to scratch I could always return it .I am glad to say that it was beyond my expectations and my husband will agree when I say it was the best buy we have had for a long time .

Is a foam mattress going to be better for you than a sprung mattress? I am talking about the normal foam underneath the memory foam here. Surely its not going to be all that supportive!
#4
I have these mattress' double size in my kids rooms and I was amazed at the quality and comfort for the price! I will be replacing my £800 dorlux half foam have sprung with one of these!! HOT

usual answer 'depends' no reason it shouldn't be anymore or less supportive than sprung. it's the density that counts and more to do with the memory foam layer than the underneath.

I've been a bit concerned about this foam stuff, springs lends themself to a few activities in the bedroom I always thought would be a lot more tiring on foam. If this astronaut mattress stuff takes hold will we see a decrease in the birth rate and or very fit people? excuse my ignorance

Great if you've got to be quiet for whatever reasons. No squeaks from the mattress.
Makes her work a bit more if shes on top though.

Being lazy in comfort.

cheers wibble, this was also the company selling them in this post.

Just a personal note but 'IF' you are a little on the heavy side I would not recommend any memory foam mattress. I had mine for just 1 year and it developed chronic amnesia!!
#24
There's quite a few on ebay including the 8in model with 2in memory foam for £129 (with pillows and p&p) from memoryfoamshop (just search Hypnia and use the King size filter button its the last one).

Probably the same shop again.

I have one with 2" of memory on foam, I bought it after I split with the ex and she took the bed with pocket sprung/mem foam topper with her, and imo the foam/mem foam mattress is no where near as comfortable as the pocket sprung was.

If you were to sleep on just any old foam I am not sure how comfortable you would be in the long run. IMO 3 inches of high density memory foam plus 7 inches of relex foam is a dream to sleep on. I am not sure that i would describe my mattress as "supportive" though. A mattress in my opinion does not have to feel "supportive" to be useful or good. On the other hand If you had back problems you might need a more "supportive" feeling mattress. I think it's also worthwhile bearing in mind that the majority of beds in the greater part of the world do not have sprung mattresses. A sprung mattress is an expensive con designed to part us with our money. This is all my opinion mind you.

Er, I think you'll find that over 60% of mattresses in circulation are actually sprung, whether they by coil or pocket.

I've slept on the foam mattresses in the east asian countries and was not too fond of them, this however may be a different product altogether. But I love my pocket sprung/memory foam mattress, very comfortable and supportive.

This brand has been selling this item at around this price for years on Ebay. Some of their reviews there aren't too favourable for delivery and customer service.

7540 reviews on eBay... 99.7% positive... five star ratings on description, communication, dispatch time and P&P charges. So, yes, "some" unfavourable comments but I think it would be more accurate to say that they have overwhelmingly positive eBay feedback.

We bought a double (3" memory foam, 7" reflex) from them last week - ordered Friday arrived Monday.
Personally I haven't slept on it yet (flu quarantined in the spare room) but my wife seems happy with it. But we'll see how it goes - for the money we thought it was worth checking out as our old sprung mattress was knackered.
#35
Its the long term durability of these. I would wager good money that these will not continue to give support after a while

Pocket sprung and memory foam is still best long term solution although i appreciate that is more expensive
#36
One thing to beware of with memory foam is that any liquid spillages can completely right it off. For children it can mean using a plastic sheet and perhaps even for adults too to protect against accidental ones like drinks. The problem then is that memory foam is supposed to react to body heat, so once you put a protective barrier between it and you it can reduce its efficiency.

There's a joke there somewhere ;)

these are rubbish thin memory foam glued to some upholstery foam underneath

try sleeping in one of these in the summer, great for weight loss as you will be sweating buckets

Thanks for the feedback. I was tempted by this but not after reading your comment; well, certainly not from this company. Cheers.;)
