Still a good price for this great book! Better than the film some say!
Robert Neville is the last living man on earth ...but he is not alone. Every other man, woman and child on the planet has become a vampire, and they are all hungry for Neville's blood. By day he is the hunter, stalking the sleeping undead through the abandoned ruins of civilization. By night, he barricades himself in his home and prays for the dawn. How long can one man survive like this?

Isn't this the normal price for it? I seem to remember it being being part of the Penguin sci-fi classics which they knocked down to £2.99, maybe it was a limited time thing though. Regardless, it's an inferno of hotness, if only they'd re-release Hellhouse by Matheson which is currently out of print.

Does it have a proper ending ?

It's completely different to the film. No happy endings here.

Let's not mention that abhorrence, even The Last Man on Earth and The Omega Man followed the ending of the book (not identically but pretty much the same outcome), I love the fact that they’re doing “I am Legend II”, the very concept of which is absurd to anyone who’s read the book.

It's an awesome book and well worth a read, even if you're not into science fiction at all. Brilliant book and makes you realise what a bunch of lunkheads the Hollywood fraternity can be when they manage to balls up a story of this quality with some cheap FX trash for Will Smith's CV.

Great book, can't say too much about it as that will ruin it for others. But if you like reading, it's not a sci-fi book, highly recommended.

If anyone gets the chance to listen to the Audiobook of this do so, it's really fantastic!

Great find, I don't care if it's the original price or not, heat added for bringing this to peoples attention!

Nice one.

Great book - much better than the film. The title doesn't even make sense in the context of the film..grr!

One fantastic book... Way way way better than the film. And as someone else pointed out 'I am Legend' doesnt make sence in the context of the film, it most definately does for the book. I will say that book is a little short.. which is unfortunate but nevertheless its still an amazing read!

Just to point out that the 'I Am Legend II' movie is supposedly a prequel where the spread of the virus drives the plot.

It'll have an even worse ending than the first one as it won't actually have one. They should just refilm the last 15 minutes or so of the first one with the proper ending, be much better.

Bought this when it was 2.99 at Play about 6 months ago and its an awesome book. Better story than the film.

Smashing book for a smashing price! And not the film tie-in version either, so you can swiftly forget that blip in cinematic history.

This book is a really really good read. I was excited about the film until i realised that it pretty much has nothing to do with the book!

The book is dark, gritty and foreboding. Its written very well, the bleakness of Roberts situation is put across very well. If you have only watched the film, i recommend reading how the story should have been.

I know a couple of people who think the movie is brilliant. Not the worst film I've seen (I'm stubborn and try to see movies through), but still not very good.

I have seen an alternative ending for the movie (can't mention without giving away the opposite and obvious real ending for people), but trust me the ending in the movie is far superior to what could have made it.

Is will smith in the book>?

The ending's obviously pre-ordained but the trick will be to make the journey there interesting.

Great book & price - I got it from play at this price a while back, but it has been up & down (sometimes even £5.99) so it's definitley worth grabbing while down. Hot.

On the subject of the movie - I liked it! Really!
This was before I read the book tho, and must confess that once I had, I wished they had stuck more closely to the source material... but I still like it. Having said that, the alternate ending (available on bluray disc and special edition DVDs - not sure about single disc DVD) is FAR superior, and while still not the same as the book's finale it somehow stays closer to the spirit of it... even if it's actually a 'happier' ending than the one the movie finally went with!! Crazy, I know, but it's worth a look. You can even watch the entire movie with that ending, rather than just as a seperate scene :)
