Its becoming clear that iPhone applications are a great promotional tool. Movie studios, websites (we have our own iPhone app!) and musicians are all using the App Store to offer up content to fans and promote their brands.
Because there are so many applications fighting for attention, the key to creating a good promotional application is to build in something special that gets people talking.
Last Week, Smule launched its I Am T-Pain [iTunes link] application which promises to do just that. The application lets you sing along to tracks by hip-hop artist T-Pain, complete with Auto-Tune technology. But wait, I thought Jay-Z said Auto-Tune was D.O.A? Not on the iPhone.
Getting started with I Am T-Pain is easy! When you load the app youll be reminded that I Am T-Pain is best used with headphones. Alternatively you can plug any speakers into the audio output for a more social experience.
I Am T-Pain contains four easy to use sections: MIC, TUNE, BEATS, and PLAY, which transform anyone into a recording artist. If you choose BEAT, a karaoke screen to guide you through the lyrics of the song can accompany you. The MIC prompt gives you freestyle mode while the TUNE prompt allows you to change the actual Auto-Tune settings. The PLAY screen helps you with your recording and includes the option to email your songs to friends, or to publish them for the world to hear.
