Great price for a new release.

A lovesick prison inmate (Jim Carrey) goes to great lengths to reconnect with his old cellmate, Phillip Morris (Ewan McGregor), in this prison-breakout black comedy from first-time helmers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the screenwriters of BAD SANTA. Leslie Mann co-stars in the Europacorp production.

I thought this movie was brilliant, and Carrey is an amazing actor in "serious" roles.

This little tale is just one of the escapades Stephen Jay Russell pulled off right under the prison officers' noses (from Wikipedia):

In 1996, while in Harris County Jail (Texas), Russell impersonated a judge and ordered his own bond decreased from $900,000 to $45,000, which he immediately posted. He was arrested 10 days later in Florida and was sent back to Texas. That same year he started taking art classes provided by the prison. Each time he attended a session, he snatched a green Magic Marker and hid it under his bed. Eventually, he had enough markers to dye his white prison uniform green. Since all the medical professionals in the prison wore green uniforms, Russell simply walked out of the prison disguised as a "doctor."

I adored this film. Have to get myself a Blu-Ray player LOL!

If a film has Jim Carrey or Jude Law in it then I just can't watch it. Those two actors are just a big turn off for me.

I loved the film, if theres a book ill be buying it, i imagine it will be a great read in content at the very least.

LOL yes I agree! I got this from blockbuster - just saw Jim Carey and the "hilarious" quotes on the front and thought no more about it, sat with daughter watching, until THAT scene which forced me to reach for the remote and switch it off quick! Read the back of the cover then, and thought oops!

Yes, the er, "bumming" bit made me glad I didn't have my mum, or niece around. In fact, I go red even sitting with friends, I'm such a wuss about X-rated scenes.

I had to check that it was only a 15 as it seemed a bit of a strong scene for that rating - or may be I have lived a sheltered life!

There is a book, written by Steve McVicker: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Love-You-Phillip-Morris-Prison/dp/0786869038/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1281102845&sr=8-1-catcorr

Tried to find one cheaper (you'd think there'd be paperbacks floating around with the Jim Carrey movie) but couldn't come up with anything! Quite fancy reading it myself!
