This wireless photoframe from i-Mate is reduced to just £29.97 in your local PC World store. It sports a 800x480 resolution for sharp images, connects directly to your Windows XP/Vista PC to stream pictures and even allows photos to be streamed via RSS sites such as Flickr and Smugmug.

Fore more information on the frame, checkout the Engadget post at: http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/25/hands-on-with-the-i-mate-momento-70/

There does not appear to be page on PC World's website for this, but I can assure you the price dropped this morning (17/09) as myself and a few other colleagues picked some up.

Was previously £95 before reduction. Product code is: 920216

Grab a bargain while they are still there, all items ending in 0.97 are clearance!

Try looking on www.saynoto0870.com they had my local store on it. That said, the store got a bit narked as I was supposed to come through the central number....

7inch wireless...WOW...that's a good deal...
#6
I phoned my nearest store to ask if they could check the product number, and was told if it wasn't on the website, they haven't got it in stock :x

Too far for me to drive 'just in case' too!
#7
sounds nice, but if it can't be checked for then I'm steering clear :)
#8
yabbas, i'd try ringing your local store - it may just depend on who you get on the other end of the phone

Why do people's 'Go To Deal' links always go to the home page and never deep link to the item?
#10
Decent deal, but very few cameras take photographs in the aspect ratio this frame has so expect black bars, cropped photos, or dodgy stretching!
#11
Went to Leeds Headrow branch.... only one in stock and that is ex display and no PSU...:?

although it was 29.97 as advertised even though shelf label was showing ~80 quid
#12
Apparently these are all ex-display units with the power supply missing.
#13
Not true - just bought one from Gateshead - fully boxed. There was a display showing at 29.97 and the boxed one showed as 95 I think , but went through at 29.97.
#14
None in Solihull
#15
Teeside park told me they had none on the phone
#16
Just bought 6, great deal! All brand new, they won't keep the box if it was a display item....
#17
just picked one up from my local store. Fully boxed not ex-display. Only had 1 left tho
#18
None in Basingstoke:x
#19
There are apparently 3 at Watford. If anyone is going there, would you buy one for me, please?
#20
I think there customer service on the phone are useless!!!
after being put through to 4 different people they tell me they arent putting me through to store because they wont let you reserve!
So i asked to speak to the manager. then they put me through and let me reserve 2!
Fingers crossed i get them!
Fantastic find, well done
#21
just rang central enquiries and was told that loads have rang about the photo frames, and they have no stock

wonder if they were lying
#22
no stock in bristol, someone reserved the last one mins before i got there, and the display unit didn't have box or power supply :(
good call on deal!

I know its a long shot but I wonder if any of you guys can help.

I have just bought a 10 inch version from my PC World which was also just £29.97. It had a power supply but no remote. Unfortunately these frames have absolutely no functionality without the remote. There was also a 7 inch model which was advertised as having no power supply. Anyway the manager agreed to take the remote from the 7 inch box in order to complete my one. Guess what. It didn't have a remote either. I was so close to getting the bargain of the century!

I decided that this was such a good price that I would buy it and try to sort out the remote separately.

This is where you guys come in. Has anyone got a spare remote?

More in hope than expectation!
#24
You can always buy a harmony remote to control it.

If you dont find one and want to sell it Ill certainly give you a profit on it and buy it.
#25
Unfortunantly these dont use an IR remote so a universal wont work. They use a wireless remote , which doesnt seem to work on mine. There is a set of pairing instructions on their website though which doesnt work for me.

Has anyone got theirs up and running and working on the remote ?

You are quite right, the Harmony remotes don't work as the remotes for these are RF. I have sent an email to I-mate but I am not expecting much joy from them as they are based in the States.
#27
Well if I cant get mine working with my remote , if I can manage to return it to PCW minus the remote , ill send it your way.
Have sent them email too , to see if im doing anything wrong.

Got last two from Kidderminster today. One was fully boxed and one ex-display so he knocked £3 off. EX-display ones remote wouldn't work, tried new battery, still no joy so will probably take back.

BNIB one working fine, linked up to my Wi-Fi and is great. Can display pics in random order too which is why I sold my Kodak as it couldn't.

Did have to point the remote right at the middle of the screen a few times before it registered though.

Right bily bargain, cheers OP

Nope.

I bought an unopened boxed version for my mother-in-law and there were another 2 on the shelf. I bought a display one too @ £29.99 with an extra 30% off (£21) but when i got it home it had no remote and these are virtually useless without the remote. I tried to get it working with my Harmony remote, but no joy :x

I went to try to find one in Cambridge and Harlow and they didnt have any. On the plus sde though i did find a Philips 7" with the 720x480 resolution for the same price so got that in stead, very happpy.
#31
I bought 2 from PC world lakeside. Both bnib. The remote in the first one did not work but this was down to the battery.

Any idea on how to update the firmware on this as my frame came with a 1.3 version but I have read that the latest is 1.5.

Cheers,
Vish

Ive checked the batteries with a multimeter and tried a "new" battery that has been sitting in my drawer for a few years. the PCW I took it back to didnt have any new batteries to test with , I think Ill try another shop.

There is a more detailed instructions pdf on their website - not sure if mentions firmware though
#33
I've just bought one of these bad boys. It's ex-display and says on the receipt that the cd is missing. I can't see any mention of a cd on the box or in the manual.

Can anyone tell me if it comes with a cd or not.

Cheers.
#34
No there is no CD - do you have the blue quick start guide ?

There is also more info on their website www.momentolive.com , although its hard to find - there is a help link at the bottom right.
#35
Yep, got the blue getting started guide. Was a bit worried I'd not have the necessary software to set set it up :?.

Cheers for the response, now just got to get it home and plug it in :).
#36
Just tried a brand new battery and its now working fine. When testing with a multimeter the old ones showed 2.99 and a friend said this was far too low - the new one showed 3.5 and as said works fine.
So if anyones remote isnt working try a new battery
Now got to get PCW to pay for it !
