Received my £20 LG Rhino K290 Tesco yesterday as posted by somebody the other day. It is Tesco locked so have been looking around for free unlock codes without any joy. Took it to a shop today was told £15 to unlock it!!!!
Came across these for around a quarter of the price, so think I will give them a whirl unless somebody comes up with some other suggestions.

Looking at the reviews, it looks as though they do, but none mention the Rhino.

Took 10 secs to find.

I have bought a couple of these, and they worked on my nokia 6120C, Lobster TV700.

With my N73 I had to use a nail file and shave a small amount off the top of the chip to get them to fit, (Note if you file to much off the turbo sim will be useless),

I tried them in a nokia 2310 and they did not work.

No need to apologise, seeing as the original post is now over a month old, it doesn't hurt anyone to highlight it again, and might benefit others that didn't know that something like this even existed.

Strangely expired at the moment, even though it patently isn't :whistling:

Will unexpire this now- despite being a dupe, as the original is over a month old I'm going to leave this one on as it's a good reminder :)

whats the secret on how to find posts?

I got one last week for my n73 locked to 3 its now working with an orange sim in it.I did have to help it in though as the chip was a tight fit.
#13
I got one of these just for the "ain't-it-bloody-marvelous-what-they-can-do-with-technology"-ness of it, if you see what I mean?

Having said it was for use in Nokia phones, it didn't (well it didn't work on a 1112, although I don't even know if these can be unlocked yet?)

It has however worked on 3 different models of Motorola phone, so I'm very pleased with it.

You do have to take a stanley knife to your sim card, but it's not rocket science.

Heat added, now awaiting delivery... Thanks

Tesco will unlock your phone for 'free' once you have topped up with £30.00. So not quite free but I found it ok, I would have used the £30 credit any way.

Got one a while back, worked a treat on my 02 ice and the kids Sonys

What is the big issue on here about reposting on here, does it matter if has been on before. I come on here all the time ive never seen it. Once its down in the pile of the list of things it gets lost, Its good to reminded of good deals.

anyone know if this works on a blackberry pearl 8120, i tried searching for a compatible list but it says some blackberrys.
#24
worked fine on my N95

Sure they do , I've actually used one to unlock my Orange Option Icon 225 USB Modem so I can use a cheap PAYG Three SIM for surfing the web on my UMPC. Tight fit (with 3 SIM ) but it works!!

The Icon 225 is £79.99 online - is it available anywhere cheaper than this?

Yeah sure..Get from an Orange Store for £50 on a PAYU tariff , You're billed retrospectively and never pay any line rental.Having said that I obtained mine for £20 after a bit of persuading. The Orange data charges are astronomical. Thus if you never use the supplied Orange SIM , you never have to pay a penny over the 12 month contract period. Three is the way to go to stretch a topup!!! Having said that if you prefer the less complicated route just get a 3 modem from say PLAY.COM...no faffing around and price is in the competitve mid-thirties. By the way there was a lady in the forums looking to offload a brand new slim black Huawei E169 for £40 ( normally £99.99) !!!!

tried in n95 works a treat!!!

How do you go about this? Do you just call them up?
#30
i have used these in a nokia n95, sony eric k750i and sony eric w850i (mate tried 5 unlock shops and was told not possible with w850i)
one thing i will say on the sony eric w850i i had to disable the sim pin to get it to work, so anyone that has a problem with phone saying searching try this

Is there a specific issue with unlocking Tesco mobiles, even the likes of the basic Nokias like the 1208 for example?

Can you not just calculate the code from IMEI number?

I thought that the £30 thing ended in mid-may and that you now have to pay £25 to unlock a Tesco phone?

Nokia changed the way the code is generated in newer models and as yet the calculators haven't been leaked

Didn't work in my SE W810, but worked fine in a Nokia 6680.

It may be worth trying it again on your W810i because it worked fine on mine and it is on their compatibility list.

Tesco has a policy of once you have credited your account with a certain amount (might be £25) you can phone customer service and they send you the code to unlock free of charge. (its in the small print) and it works because I unlocked my sons phone this way.

Thanks for the info, so would 3x free £10 (Purchased a Rhino and 2 others) count as credit?

Is this small print on the website or litreture which came with phone?

Sorry for the questions, thanks
#38
Any nokia N series phones more than likely wont work due to the nature of the phones software. Most networks unlock your phone for free if you go to them anyway. The way you unlock is by a code generated by your phones serial number.
#39
if it works with the rhino, le bargain

the deal for it was great, 14inc 11 quid credit if the quidco comes off - only drawback in my mind was that it was locked to tesco! didnt even think this would work, if it does, awesomeness

Did not work on my Virgin locked LG Chocolate when I tried to move across to Tesco.
