"I think this is a great deal"

Sorry, I don't. For not much more you could get a new laptop from Dell (or elsewhere) with a much better spec. This is one of these 'cheap but bad value' deals imo. Voted cold for me, but perhaps others will see it differently?
P4M and only 512MB RAM is pretty sluggish.

You'd be better off with a Core based celeron and 1GB of DDR2, which is in the same price range.
Sorry mate, but I have to agree with the guys above as, even though it is cheap, the spec is not good value when you can pay a little bit more and get a much better spec.
I have to agree with the others, poor deal.

At a guess I would say this laptop is about 3 years old (IBM laptops have been badged as Lenovo for about 3 years)

It is only a 14.1" screen.

It also says refurbished so no idea what its history is.

Probably only worth £100 or so.
A very good laptop in its time, but with its age it's just not worth getting it at this price.

It's only in the last 6 months that the IBM logo has now disappeared from the Thinkpad range (after Lenovo bough the IBM PC division, it was agreed to carry the IBM logo for 3 years). I would not equate Dell and IBM laptops. Dells are good value for money, but the reason you pay more for an IBM (or Sony or Toshiba for that matter) is for a more robust and better integrated design.

All PCs. whether desktop or laptop, are commodity items now anyway. It's fast approaching the stage where you can afford to throw them away of things go wrong rather than repair them - which is why IBM got out of the market.
IBM laptops are pretty decent and hold their value well.
guilbert53, 14.1" is portable... it is a laptop after all. If you want a bigger screen then umm... buy a desktop?
