Shows as £45.99 but you get an extra 10% off if you during checkout you move the mouse outside the window as it thinks you're not going through with it. Got this for a rental from Geneva in January…

insurance4carhire slightly cheaper @ £39.99 with possible 19.23% Quidco.
Good call. Would need to compare levels of cover. Too late for me but may help others.

Hugely useful. Heat. Anyone know if this would also work with garage courtesy cars? Excess on them is usually eye - watering.

[email protected] if you have a rental agreement and most garages do issue one for you to sign, then this will cover any excess. I buy one every year and it saves you a fortune.
Wondered that myself but in the T&Cs it excludes loan cars. However, some garages treat it as a rental so if you fill out rental paperwork then I reckon you'd be golden.

After the 9/10 hour flight/early morning and arriving in 90 degree heat I really wouldn't recommend gettting into a 'debate' at car hire counter. They hold all the cards and know it.If push comes to shove they always demand a crazy deposit.

If anyone can show me where a hire company shows they will accept this cover as valid please put the link up.It is a great idea and for sure the hire industries practises are pretty shocking but honestly they have you over a barrel.
If you go to the site it explains the difference in cover. In many countries you get cover included but are still liable for the first, for example, £500. You could be charged for tyre damage, chipped windscreen and minor body work damage. By using this site for excess cover your £500 liability is covered AND the hire company picks up any extra costs.

In the US you need CDW/LDW which covers the full cost of any claim. Again this site offers this. So it is not a partial cover. It works to fill in the gaps from the hire firm depending on where you are hiring. I have used www.insurance4carhire.com (on Quidco) many times but I think they removed the daily cover policy and it is monthly or annual only so this site is handy for daily cover.

I now have an American Express Platinum Chargecard which includes car hire insurance as well as many other benefits like travel insurance, lounge access at airports etc. All for £300 a year for 2 card holders.

Note that in the event of a claim with the hire car company they will charge you and then you claim back from the above company as opposed to hire companies dealing with it all in house if you paid their (more expensive) premium. In 10 years of driving in the US 2/3 times a year I have never had an incident so I would be happy to get cover from this company just to be safe. For those who are not sure if they can use this due to it being a package deal just book with another company at the same airport for the same dates and if the first company give you grief just insist on a refund and go to the other hire company.
Trouble is my travel agent cant even tell me if i can take this out or not , i got free car hire but she says i need CDW she says she does not know if i can take my own insurance out and ill have to wait until i get to Florida before i know or not :x

I'm sorry to keep coming back to this post, but I think it really is a better deal than -1

Companies get lots of commission for selling insurance, they're going to attempt to make it seem like an essential extra if they can, I'm sure, probably just stopping short of explicitly saying it is compulsary that you take it

If you can not take the insurance, then don't... look elsewhere (here) for a better deal

IMHO the product mentioned does not cover the basic insurance only the excesses and in the case of U.S.A. and Canada full cover for CDW/LDW and SLI.

I am quite happy to be proved wrong - I am just offering a word of caution.

I have previously used the company for excess cover for car hire in Ireland.
