Only ordered myself today, but the update is a self install from USB stick so should be no problem. No it wont void warranty as it's an official upgrade just it's just in beta at the moment. When the final they will send OTA like everybody else does. Don't need it TBH as already have a house full of Humax boxs but for £60 I thought I would have a play. :)

Probably true. But for me it wont be used in the room with the AV setup so not much of a problem.

Shame its not FreeSat looks a very good buy

Its time the HD Freeview receivers
came down in price. In Lancashire
we have been "Digital" for a while
but until the whole country is "done" I
suppose we will have to wait for the
best deals.

Ordered one.Cannot believe this is only 37 degrees.Check the price and what this does compared with the Humax freeview hd box.

now £109.99

Mine came today (£60), installed and scanned in all the Freeview channels in a few minutes. Then upgraded it to beta firmware and it can now record live to external USB drive. ( About an hr to 8GB). The colours are excellent and upscales all SD and 1080i channels to 1080p and is a big improvement over the standard Freeview built in with my Samsung 40" LCD. It is visually better upscaling the 1080i to 1080p. I am surpised that the temp got to 42 degrees only!

Mine arrived today. Looks a nice unit, cant test as need to cable in the room and HD transmissions dont start in my area until next month. Nice to see lots of room inside the box so my first mod will be to put a 2.5" drive inside it at won't be using it as a media player just as a PVR.

Well impressed, this is a very articulate machine.

Due to some cloudy damp days I don't get channel 4 and Channel 5 from my roof aerial at home. Pleasant surprise from having Freeview HD is that Channel 4 HD works on this Icecrypt unit (though Channel 4 still does not work on this unit)! I presume that the Channel 4 HD is transmitted differently from Channel 4, vertical or horizontal polarisation?

When you have a USB drive connected, can you rewind live TV? I believe you can on the equivilent Humax.
