Produced and packed in China. Wouldn't eat this many food products from China have been found to be contaminated with heavy metals. Health and safety is poor and pollution extremely high in many areas of China.

where did you find that? can't find it on the page. thanks

the tuna is lush.

Does this work out cheaper than Aldi's? does anybody know?

Where can I get proper pink salmon (not produced and packed in China)? Thank you.

It could be farmed fish. You know clean safe water. Not the wild stuff.

Checking the below products in this offer, all "Produced and Packed in China for Iceland Foods Ltd., U.K., CH5 2NW" despite the below locations were they were sourced.

"Atlantic Cod (Gadus morhua) caught by trawl nets in the North East Atlantic (Norwegian Sea, Spitzbergen and Bear Island and Barents Sea)."

"Smoked Haddock Fillets. Caught by trawl nets, seine nets or hooks and lines in the North East Atlantic (Norwegian Sea, Barents Sea)"

"Pacific Pollock (Theragra chalcogramma) Caught using trawls in the North West Pacific"

"Haddock (Melanogrammus aeglefinus) caught by trawls in the North-East Atlantic (Barents Sea, Norwegian Sea, Spitzbergen and Bear Island)"

"Mackerel (Scomber Scombrus) caught by Seines in the North East Atlantic (Norwegian Sea)"

The exception is
"Yellowfin Tuna (Thunnus albacares) caught by hooks and lines in the Western Central Pacific Ocean"
which is Produced and Packed in the U.K. for Iceland Foods Ltd., U.K., CH5 2NW.

Yellowfin Tuna is found in the western and central Pacific Ocean, not in the UK so where it states it's Produced and Packaged isn't where it's sourced or farmed. Just where it's processed and packaged like stated.

Just as likely to be contaminated from China. Farmed fish is also generally less nutritious than wild fish and has little Omega 3.

I have bought this frozen salmon once for fishcakes but found it tasted wierd and had an odd texture. Not recommended

Unfortunately, salmon is the only one online without that information so might have a look at a physical pack to see if it's on there.

It seems there's actually quite a bit more omega 3 in farmed according to the USDA nutrition database. Averages of about 2% in farmed vs 1.4% wild, that's almost 50% more. Generally though the differences aren't as significant as is made out on the Internet in my opinion because salmon is a very nutritious food regardless. :)

Wild salmon still contains toxins but less than farmed. Something to consider is that these toxins are not found exclusively in salmon and that the nutritional benefits outweigh the risks. The dose makes the poison. You would regularly need to eat a lot of salmon to start to increase your risk of an adverse health affect, just like it's recommended that pregnant women don't eat tuna more than a few times a week.

Just checked it is caught by seines or gillnets in the Pacific ocean

Now packet size dropped to 480g (4 fillets instead of 5) making it 25% expensive. A lot of things in Iceland increased by similar percentages, example Vita Coco Coconut water increased from £2 to £2.50; 1kg Sugar used to be 2 for £1 now £1.20
