£163 one way London Gatwick to Chicago (!) In theory flight x2 = £326...which is cheap ! Its only one leg and you'll have to find the other from any other site. I went London-Toronto a few weeks

Sorry guys only picked this up again! Flew really cheap to Toronto for that return price through Sunwing. I heard about the offer and booked on the spot!
My parents flew with this airline, and they actually didn't mind the lack of "luxuries". Actually, my dad claims to have been able to lie across 3 seats and sleep the entire flight! No one bothered him to ask which meal he needed, since none were provided. This was Copenhagen-Boston, round trip. Besides some minor delays, there was nothing at all wrong with flying with them. Remember, if you cut costs, you can't expect things to run 100% perfectly. Hopefully there is no hit upon safety, I think federal regulations prevent that. You can read my whole review here :
I'm also wondering about how you got to Toronto that cheap. I realize I should let you guys book my flights home, clearly I don't know what I am doing.
Booked an Edinburgh to Chicago flight with them next week, was by far the cheapest ticket and I paid little extra for better seats.

I flew with these last year to New York! Never again! Seats were really cramped and you have to pay for everything and its not cheap! Pay a bit extra and travel with a decent airline.
i dont think id risk it.. seems pretty bad reviews and alot of them!
id pay the extra rather than take a chance at a bad start of a holiday!

I think that people had better read the reviews before they book:

You have to pay extra for EVERYTHING (and this includes water) and the flight is very cramped. Sometimes I do feel that these things can be a bit of a false economy. ALso, their customer servic seems to be very poor.

You obviously have to compare with what else is available, dates I were checking in August at £299 are £731 with Virgin, OK Virgin are direct and you get free drinks but the food is inedible and staff can be hit and miss like any airline, for £432pp saving I would be willing to risk it, others wouldn't.

Interesting.
I tried the price calendar and the prices changed(up) when I started checking more than once for the same dates.

I checked dates and got £299 return, just checked again 5 mins later £576. I guess they are getting a few hits and the site can't handle it.

I'm a bit surprised that a deal from any Icelandic company can get hot. What short memories you all have!

What have Icelandic banks got to do with Icelandic airlines?

The clue is in the use of the work Icelandic twice in your question.

I presume that you mean word?

So it is Iceland Express's fault that the Icelandic banks went belly up and people who were stupid enough to invest in an unprotected bank lost their money?

Are Icelandic banks and Iceland Express related? Because they are in the same country does that mean that everything icelandic is terrible?

SO i will ask the question again - What have Icelandic banks got to do with Icelandic airlines?

Amazing, it is a good job not everyone has your attitude else this world would be in a serious mess.......We wouldn't have much oil for a start....

Fair points really and was what I was thinking when I read the comments about having anything to do with Icelandic Airlines.

I too have been hurt by dodgy finance groups when I lost money to Crown Currency Exchange who were a registered English company, does that mean I should not deal with anything related to England..lol. What a load of tosh. Or what about those that were affected by Northern Rock.

On a side note though, it wouldn`t surprise me if Icelandic Banks did have anything to do with the airlines, as I`m sure I read somehwere that actually most airplanes are actually fundamenatlly owend by banks. I may be wrong here and defo not looking to throw fuel on a fire, mearly just mentioning.

I'll let you know if they are any good!

Due to your lack of response, we can assume that the reviews were correct!!?

Oh thanks. Well the reason I wanted to know about cheap hotels is that I just really would want a basic room with a bed and nothing fancy. But would I imagine cheap hotels would be in the ghettos, just how safe they would be I dont know. I guess i could just ask a taxi driver where is a good place to stay for £20 a night or so.
Assuming you hold a British Passport that's eligable, you need an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).

America is not 3rd world (although some may disagree) they are very similar to us. Try hotels.com or similar.
So whats the crack for going to new york then? ive never been to america, do i need that visa check etc? And lets say i got a return ticket, where would i stay one i got there? are there b and bs, motels, cheap hotels easy to find? And how long could i stay?
The price jumps around depending on when you login to the website. I went yesterday and there were flights for USD $195. Later the same day they jumped to $550, then this morning they were selling at $195 again (one way).

Cheers!
good deal
