there are a couple of reviews at Amazon - not very highly rated there...

http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/02/x-locale/common/customer-reviews/stars-1-0._V45451574_.gifFunky design, poor functionality, 13 Oct 2007
I purchased the twin pack of this phone for 3 reasons: the built in answerphone, the sleek modern design, and the hands free capability.
The phones are great to look at and don't need a lot of space however the answer machine appears to only randomly takes messages (or cuts the caller halfway through leaving a message) and the speaker phone is near useless with neither party being able to hear much of what the other one says. Sound quality is also poor with lots of backgound hissing and whistles.
I've had my phones for less than 6 months and am alreay looking for replacments.
The reason for 1 star? Funky design, but pretty hopeless for everything else.

Found this on Ciao www.ciao.co.uk/Binatone_I_DECT_X2I_TWIN__Review_5622012 - but for the money sounds ok by me!
#10
Thanks for the review links, not so sure now!

Edit: Although for £15, it can always be returned. Rang them and lead time is 2-3 weeks currently.
#11
Thanks for the links! Ordered one to test out with a set of AA batteries (Product Code TC0232) to take it over £30!
#12
Do I need to input my card number first to get to the discount code insertion section? I just don't want to pay and then find out that the discount is not available.
#13
Order won't be placed unless you click on 'Confirm Order' button which appears in the next screen...

Good price, but after purchasing the X1 twin pack I will never purchase another iDect/Binatone product again. The styling is the only redeemable quality of this otherwise useless product.

Here is the main thrust of my Amazon review for the X1. I hope some of the problems have been fixed with the x2.

Problems:
1. Extremely unclear with hissing and distortion during calls.
2. Too quiet with only 3 volume levels.
4. Listening to messages requires 7 keystrokes on the handset and cannot be done from the base station.
5. Deleting messages takes another several keystrokes per message.
6. Answerphone records nothing but registers a message if the other party hangs up. (Then the 10 odd keystrokes above are required to delete.)
7. Something is wrong with the ground curcuit as when the LED displaying the number of messages is flashing, an extremely bad hissing is present on the line.

My quidco has already tracked - £2.10 as I bought the twin pack - making these £27.89 for a twin pack! Thankyou!
#16
They also have a triple pack you could get for £15 using the same voucher.

I've emailed empirestores to confirm whether £15 discount has been applied to my order.

Same story...just re-order., ok will do but...no codes working.

Anyone got others?
#26
Received an email back this morning, apparently the code I used (PL6297) is not showing on my account.

I've emailed them a copy of my order confirmation, if they say I can't have the £15 off I'll just cancel the order.

The same story .. asked to cancel the order and my account with them. I think it is not legal, to charge customer more than he authorised when ordering in internet ... otherwise they could deliver your phone and charge your credit card £999 .. should be some regulations

Got mine through this morning - cracking looking phone for £15 and Quidco!! Many thanks OP and heat and rep added.

I got one of these about a year ago with the DAB alarm clock free from Tesco (in the good old day or RnR!) , and it is a very slick phone. It is a little fiddly getting to listen to an answer machine message but have never had a problem with the reception or anything.

Do like the look of the black version, would go well with a modern TV set up (Samsung TV, Virgin V+ box, Playstaion 3 and then this nice phone sat next to it all!)

Customer Ref can be found on their delivery note. I haven't had any problems with Empire stores regarding promotional codes.. shame they charged you the full price..

Call them 0800 777 000 and tell them that you were given a promo code by a friend ;-) and insist them about applying the code... or else returning is the last option.. :-(

Thanks, forgot to check delivery note for this number !

Seems that it is not only my problem though : http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1129062&postcount=25

The online confirmation had the right figure and valid code applied ..

Had an email back from Empire Stores saying the discount code hadn't appeared on the order, I emailed them a copy of my order confirmation and they say they've added the discount to my account ready for when the phone gets dispatched.

I only ordered the phone at £29.99 and a set of batteries at £1 something and used the £15 off a £30 order voucher in this thread; this was applied at the time of ordering and showed on the e-mail confirmation. The batteries are "awaiting stock with delivery time of 4/5 weeks" and I got the phone last weekend. They charged my credit card £15.70 which I think was correct price for only the phone and the delivery note had the voucher code applied off the total cost. Hope this helps.
#36
Received a statement showing expected stock on 24 Nov at a price of £15.

Hertz what is the phone like? Any good?
#37
Finally!!!!!!!!

Phone was dispatched this morning, should be with me within 2 days.

The same, but ..

Payment date Value
03/12/07 £29.99

And this is after they confirmed £15 price for my order !

Will never deal again .. (

My phone was delivered this morning, I have also been charged £29.99 to my credit card.

I rang Customer Services and told them my statement dated 12 November states the price at £15.47 but they have taken £29.99. The woman told me that I will only be paying £15.47 and to wait for my next statement.

Anway back to the phone, looks good and works fine (display is abit small) a bargain for £15.

I also got charged £29.99 but a call to 0800 777 000 and they've promised to credit back £15 to my card. We'll see..
