The IDER I6-FH provides a cost effective way to enjoy HD media files on the move. It can be used to house a 2.5" hard disk drive whilst also providing the means to play 720p / 1080p video in virtually every format possible. The underlying chipset has been proven since introduction in late 2010 to offer ample power for 1080p / 720p playback along with vast file format support.

The I6-FH is highly portable, measuring only 14*8*2 cm, or only slightly larger than the internal hard disk it can contain. This portability means you can carry it from place to place, between rooms, on holiday, between meetings, or visiting friends.

With an internal 2.5" HDD installed, the unit itself can act as an external hard drive, letting you copy all your media direct to the player for portable use. 2.5" laptop style hard drives of up to 2TB (also limited to 9.5mm physical height) are supported.

The degree of file format support for the IDER I6-FH is much better than you would find on a modern TV, Blu-Ray player, games console, or the like. The I6-FH offers near complete support for all the advanced video codecs you would ever encounter. 720p / 1080p MKV, x264, H264, MP4, DivX, RMVB..

The IDER I6-FH also offers complete 5.1 / 7.1 HD audio support (downmix to 2.1 channel), so any video you have with 5.1 or 7.1 channel HD-Audio (DTS, Dolby Digital, DTS-HD MA, Dolby True HD) will play perfectly through your TV. Complete support like this would be unusual in a player costing many times the price.

Music and photo support is similarly complete. The music browser will play MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG, AAC, LPCM, FLAC, and AC3 files whilst the photo browser will display the popular JPG/JPEG, BMP, PNG, and GIF image formats. The IDER I6-FH is perfect for photo slideshows as it has a built in SD Card slot. Simply take the card out of your camera, pop it into the I6-FH, and you're away.

Format Support
Video H.264/AVC, VC1,MPEG1/2/4, DivX/Xvid, RMVB, mkv, ts, m2ts, mts, tp, wmv, vob, dat, avi, mpg, mp4, mov, rm, rmvb, divx, xvid, flv.

The new Boxchip F10 chipset (processor) offers superior performance to anything else in it's price range. We have successfully streamed MKV files at up to 70mbit/s and general streaming performance has proven to be comparable to the Realtek based players (Asus O!Play, Xtreamer. etc). The new chipset offers complete 7.1 audio support (downmix to 2.1 channel), so any video you have with 7.1 channel HD-Audio (DTS-HD MA, Dolby True HD) will play perfectly through your TV. This would be unusual in a player several times the price. The box itself is an aluminium shell with plastic front and is solidly built.

The USB port can operate as both slave and host. This means that you can connect external USB storage devices (USB pen drive, USB HDD) or use the I6-FH itself as an external HDD (exactly like a conventional HDD enclosure). The player ships with both USB-mini to USB-male and USB-mini to USB-female leads to allow both modes of operation.

Boot time from standby is an incredible 7 seconds. The player software is very straightforward with minimal options. It is perfect for performing the function of the box, to play media. You get a choice between Movies, Music, Photo, Files, and Setting. Choosing each option gives you a tree layout of the internal HDD / USB drive / SD Card inserted where you can browse to the file you want.

The IDER I6-FH is ideal if you want a portable and powerful device to store and play media files.

Note: All players from 7/12/2010 will have the new 'IDER' design with Chinese writing as shown on the main photo above.

Box contents: IDER I6-FH, power supply, composite AV cable, mini-USB to male USB cable, mini-USB to female USB cable, screwdriver and screws for fixing internal HDD, manual.

Can anyone please explain to me why these media players are any different than me just plugging in my external drive into my USB port on my DVD player and playing my films directly from there? I purchased a 500gb 3.5inch media player a couple of years ago for a lot of money (but can't remember exactly how much now) and it is no different than the 2.5 inch 1tb Samsung drive that I got through Hot UK loaded on my AVI films plugged it into my USB port and Hey Presto! Plays just as good if not better than the damn expensive Media Player and doesn't require it's own power supply.

I doubt your dvd player plays Hi-Definition 720/1080p files. probably just bog standard divx/xvid files?

This does full HD files including the MKV container.

It's about the bit rates it will process, the fact it will deal with DTS, TrueHD, all sorts of really hi def MKV files. It depends on what you want but the compatibilty and capabilities of this chip are quite incredible for the price.

Check out this page on the futeko site: http://www.futeko.com/navpage/media-player-compared-to-tv-pvr.php

It compares a couple of media players to the media playback on a TV, PVR, and Xbox 360.

I would guess that the USB port on a DVD player would score less than 5 / 31 on this test!

There is a load of h264 video available now. Movies in 720p HD can compress down to 500-700Mb using this compression..

Beats the hell out of **** DivX!

I guess by the cold votes that most people don't get quite what a good bit of kit this is. 70mbps streaming is quite something at this price point. And for me, the fact you can put a 2.5" drive inside it and have all that storage and functionality in a portable unit is fantastic.

Does anyone know if this player will upscale the AVI files I have or do I have to get HD files for it to be effective

It upscales very happily. The big difference with the latest chipsets is their speed of response. The WDTV feels sluggish by comparison and crashes more frequently (needing power cable removed and a reboot).
