Not suggesting that this one is better than the OP's one but there's the Hannsg 28" available for £259.99 + about £5 delivery at Misco:

Yes i've seen that Hanns-G one before, great price as well. The only thing it really lacks is DVI.

I'd definately go for Misco, given Dabs.com/BTshop bad reputation and problems people had (see comments on Dabs thread)

I can remember the time when Dabs customer service was second to non and Ebuyers was non existent. How times change!

The link takes me to the E2607WSV-1 which has no HDMI not sure if dabs have changed the link or this is just a mistake the E2607WS is a higher spec (I think just the inputs) This model is slightly cheaper instore at scan at £239.69 Inc VAT (I did say slightly) if you can collect.

I'd have bought the WS like a shot as I've been waiting for it to come into stock at scan.
#7
Shouldn't really be tagged as 'tv'.. it isn't a TV. Good deal mind you.
#8
This is the WSV at Scan @ £239.69 The better speced WS model is £285.88 but is out of stock. The title of this thread really needs to be changed with the spec as it's incorrect.
#9
its not HDCP so will that be a problem for bluray and ps3?
#10
Agreed, this isnt the WS version, so no dvi connection.
#11
does it really matter that you get one with hdmi connectors? Or is the DVI more than capable of anything (i.e. maybe good for 3-5 more years??) is it true that HDMI is superior?
#12
So, could you hook up a freeview box with an hdmi output to this monitor?
#13
That a good price.

This is actually for the E2607WSV lower model instead, with only D-Sub. No DVI or HDMI input. Needs editing.

The 26" iiyama E2607WS-B1avaliable at Scan for £285.88 for those with free delivery accounts. come with vga, dvi and hdmi input

This isn't the WS model so it only has VGA as an input so unless you can get a freeview box with vga out then no you couldn't connect. It has no DVI or HDMI connectors. The spec in the original post is incorrect and this price isn't amazing for it. I suspect that Dabs may have posted the wrong details and now updated it.
#15
As mentioned above this is in fact the Iiyama 26" E2607WSV-1 5ms LCD TFT.
It only has the one input: D-Sub.

As far as I understand it (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong) but the video signal of HDMI and DVI is basically the same. I bought a DVI -> HDMI adaptor cable from ebuyer for under a fiver and use it to connect my HDMI Xbox to my DVI monitor.

The main difference however is that HDMI also carries an audio signal, so it's a nice thing to have as you can do everything with 1 cable instead of messing about with separate audio feeds as I have to do with my Xbox. (My monitor doesnt have speakers anyway)

Edit: Only analog input is a weird thing to have on a screen this size. I have a 26" NEC screen and the difference between DVI and D-sub is immediately noticable, although the quality of cabling could make a difference, which doesn't happen with DVI.

With regards to Freeview as well - there aren't any Freeview boxes with HDMI yet AFAIK as HD Freeview won't be available until next year. You could of course get a Freesat HD box (about £150) and connect that if you wanted to watch BBC HD and ITV HD right now. Don't forget that a FreeSAT box needs a satellite dish installed, which points at Astra 28.2 (ie Sky dish that's already installed will do, if you've ditched Sky - as many people are doing)

Is the screen quality any good? Could you not use a hdmi to dvi adpater and if needed a hdmi switcher.

I can confirm that when the op posted this it was with the details he posted. Dabs have changed the description.

There are freeview boxes with HDMI, i have two. A goodmans one and one from Maplin (which is ****)

Bare in mind HDMI>DVI will not work with ALL of them as most freeview boxes with HDMI will need HDCP, so if the DVI is not hdcp enabled you wont get a picture.

Luckily my goodmans freeview with hdmi does not need hdcp but the cheap box does and wont work with my monitor.

damn this monitor is good for the price. The only downside is that it has a weak contrast (i want my blacks black and not grey!) dammmmnnn. Hopefully prices fall down a little more and they delease a much better contrast one.

Altho i might buy this 26" one... the extra 2" can be forgotten about right?

Dabs.com have changed it now, but nethertheless it is still a great price for a 26" Monitor considering Samsung's cost over £400 with similar specs.

You should also check out this Dabs Value 24" TFT Monitor 1920 x 1200 with DVI. Manufacturer website
