IKEA Leksvik Super-King size wooden bed frame... only £63.45 (Glasgow)

joeymcjoejoeymcjoe

I was in IKEA Glasgow yesterday (by the way, it was very busy, but the checkouts were full of staff so the average wait at a queue was much shorter than a weeknight) and saw this great bed on offer for a crazy price. The regular double frame has been reduced to around £85 and the king-size is just over £100. I saw it being available in brown, definitely real wood too for a change!

I'm guessing the price includes the slats and the midbeam, in which case the actual cost for the frame will be about £30, pretty good if you already have the slats and midbeam for a super-king bed (200x180cm, roughly 7x6 feet!)

IKEA Glasgow also have a massive sale on at the moment, which appears to not be very well advertised. It would seem this sale is better than the summer ones that IKEA usually run (as an ex-employee I can comment as to the usual direness of their sales).

Just worth noting that Ikea bed sizes are not the same as the usual ones in the UK. So if you want the mattress to fit this frame you'll have to buy one from Ikea.

Agreed, although the IKEA Mattresses are pretty good... over 10% of all Europeans living today were conceived on them...

I'm not totally convinced with Ikea mattresses. I bought one from the Sultan range, cost about £200-300, I've it less then a year and its lost alot of its firmness and has sunk in the middle. My cousin tells me that he has had the same problem too.

The Ikea Super King is the standard UK size, so no need to worry about the mattress size. It's only the beds smaller than the super king that sometimes have the funny Ikea sizing.

it's not "ikea sizing", it's european sizes...UK use different sizes to the rest of europe. Bit of a pain in the backside if you're looking for a fitted sheet for example.

The last two ikea beds we had a **** in - the slats on the base that are held together with white rubber frame things at the edge, snapped and we ended up disappearing through a gap the mattress fell into that appeared beneath it. The slats then slide apart and the mattress folds into the space.

Only buy an ikea bed if you prefer a mat finish.

You can fix it by tying the slats together with rope - and spacing the slats with a bit of wood between each. But you don't really feel like stopping to do it when it happens when you are busy.

i have one of these, super king size... the mattress is in two halves which is a tad annoying, be careful putting the cover over them, the zip broke on mine but ikea were kind enough to replace it, great price for the frame. definitely not a one person job to put together though as i found out the hard way!

You can use a standard mattress but it is not the same size as an Ikea mattress and sometimes not always a good fit as you end up with a gap.

The duvets are the same, I had to alter the covers from Ikea to fit our standard UK duvets.

I compared the size of the ikea superkings mattress with a normal superking from argos and they are the same size, the double and king mattresses are different in ikea, but the singles and superkings are the same, do a comparision.

    Just have, DD's mattress - Ikea 90 x 200. DS's mattress - local bed shop - 90 x 195

Double mattress - matressman - 140x195 vs Ikea double 140x200;-)

Have a look at the argos mattresses, they are 200cm long.

I think the anomaly of the odd size mattress is not just with Ikea then
