All usb sockets are 5v. The more amps the faster they can charge (device permitting).

Normal ipad chargers are 2amp so 10w meaning this 1amp socket will charge your ipad at half the normal speed, assuming the details are correct.

The two .5amp sockets will charge phones at half the rate of most usual 1amp iphone chargers.

I'm not wild about the sockets being on the bottom either but it is a cheap way to slowly charge three devices from one plug.

Yes the usb ports.

Thanks - didnt realise USB ports differed. Assumed that there were 3 additional charging points not including the USB ports.

I do know you can buy a single one of these from poundland.
How many times do you need to charge 3 things at the same time.

With four smartphones, two tablets and various other devices in the family that can be charged via USB (DSs, satnavs etc.) then my answer to this is 'almost all the time'!

Being able to charge multiple devices from a single 13A wall socket is brilliant, otherwise half the sockets in the house are taken up with chargers, each sapping a tiny little bit of vampire power unless you remember to switch them all off individually (yeah, like that ever happens).

I've bought el cheapo twin 0.5A chargers from Amazon/Ebay before but they have proved themselves to have rather questionable reliability. Kensington do a 4-way but it's usually about £15-20 so has put me off, and again the ports are only 0.5A each from what I can tell.

OK, I'm sure that iLuv aren't exactly Apple when it comes to quality, but they are at least 'a brand' rather than a 'no brand' and Argos don't tend to stock anything of the quality of the twin devices I already have (really shoddy), so this looks to be the business for me, thanks OP :)

If anyone has this, can you tell me if the ports are facing up or down when used with the 3 pin plug? I find most hotel sockets too low to use with downward facing ports.

I think this is the UK Home page for this item the specs might help some folk. http://www.i-luv-uk.co.uk/iAD217ITL.html

Can't tell orientation of USB sockets from the photos though for UK. This is the biggest photo I could find: http://www.thetechlodge.co.uk/info/ImageView?imageID=801347-1.JPG&imageTitle=iLUV%20International%20Triple%20Usb%20Power%20Charger%20Pack

This looks like the UK plug option has the USB Ports at the bottom, over over the photo to see a zoom view the EAN / Bar code is 5018379217023 so I think this is the MPN:AD217ITL = EAN 5018379217009 : http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Universal-Chargers/iLuv/iLuv-Triple-USB-Wall-Charger?affid=68033&awc=1152_1350023832_35f4d82e0ad0db314734f85bc95f5cf2

It seems iLuv is a brand of the Harvard Group http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvard_International "Harvard International also used to own Grundig, Alba, Pulse Home Products, Breville and Hinari, which are now owned by other companies." taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvard_International

Good point...you can turn it either way. The UK plug is attachment to the core body of charger and you have option plug it whatever way convenient

Good point...It face down with UK plug, so you might have problem when using it in hotels across country

Use one of those 3 way socket adapters and it'd point outwards rather than downwards if you use the top one?

Are there any good products with 2x1A ports? It just seems a waste to have 0,5A since the charge time would be so high.
#35
I picked up one of these from B&M for £3.99 a few weeks ago. I also got a iLuv double car usb at the same time.
#36
grabbed two, cheers!

Yes it will charge. It won't be as fast as the 10W 2Amp chargers, or as slow as the 500mA or lower chargers.

Most "USB" Chargers are 300mA to 500mA and PC USB ports range from 350mA to 750mA.
More recent phones come with 500mA chargers.
When you say iPAD there is a difference between models (even the iPAD release this year has 2 or 3 variants) however they will charge with this 1AMP supply, faster if turned off. This is a simple overview of options. http://www.macworld.com/article/1150356/ipadcharging.html while this is a more technical if dated article: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html

I've read on Tom's hardware and in reviews that a 1 Amp changer will charge an iPAD (If it is turned off) see previous post.
This is a 1Amp charger on Amazon with review about it charging an iPAD ok if turned off.

Do you have this charger? If so which iPAD (model) did you attempt to charge and was the iPAD turned off?

I agree that the iPAD is not listed on the UK home page for this unit, and this charger is not intended as a dedicated iPAD fast chargers (which would need a 1Amp output) however for occational top ups with the iPAD turned off, and a thick short power cable this charger would work though the charge time would be extended, an overnight charge might be useful.
