I'm looking for an Instant Messenger product for my iPhone, & I was hoping this was going to be a potential candidate for my first "app" purchase but the latest version (3.5) of "IM+" seems to be receiving some poor usability reviews regarding connection or loss of functionality since the previous version.

Do you use this "app" yourself, bowdown2thegame?

Without turning this into iphone vs "insert other smartphone here" thread but is there no free IM app for iphone?

I had fring on my Nokia N95 which did all that and later Nimbuzz on my 5800 (which I also used on my HTC Hero). May be worth searching them on app store?

There are many, including those two.

the goof Free ones are ebuddy and fring for iphone. Fring now lets you do vid and audio via 3g aswell...
#5
Nimbuzz for iphone is also pretty good for multiple IM/skype/facebook etc
#6
Theres im+lite which is basically the same but without advertisments (as far as i know)

I actually use BeeJive which is £5.99 in the app store, but I purchased IM+ mainly for the Skype function. I think the main advantage of these two over free apps is that they give you push notifications even when the app is closed. Beejive can be set to push for
upto a week since you last logged on and IM+ for upto 3 days.

Yes... but I was asking for a personal recommendation as the voting system on the "App Store" is just as open to abuse as the voting system is here.

Exactly my point; I was hoping for feedback from those who have already been through the task of looking at each & every example (so I could avoid repeating the same task).

...but with the same issues with connectivity as "IM+" I would expect.

OK, I'll add "BeeJive" to my review list.

Have you experienced the same issues with connectivity whilst using "IM+"?

Thank you all again for your responses.
