Ok but still a very good deal compared with Apple or John Lewis, £173.40 less.

The refresh is right around the corner, so I wouldnt bother with an iMac yet unless all you need it for is web browsing.

A system with an i3 3.06GHz, 4GB RAM, HD 4670 & 500GB HDD can handle a lot more than Web Browsing!

That was precisely Striker's point.

Very hot deal!
Particularly with the cashback.

This offer has been on for months. I couldnt decide whether to go for it or not, as theres a new imac out at the end of the month. I think il wait and hopefully 15% off and 8% quidco will still be on.
#12
Its like everything else, how long do you wait for the next new model. If you want something buy it, I am sure they wont have the 15% on but who knows. Where did you see about the new IMAC'S out at the end of the month btw?

It seemed as if he/she was saying that it was only good for web browsing!!!

I'm a student with the OU, so I'm waiting for the refresh and the iPod offer to appear before i shell out... If anyone else here is a student, i would recommend doing the same. ;)

Think you get free iPod with new iMacs. Students only though

Every september Apple do a Back to School promotion to claim back £130 on the price of an iPod with every Mac purchase.

It's a brilliant way of clearing out their old stock a week before they refresh their iPod range.

The desription at best buy mentions gaming, really? does it handle gaming or are they talking chuckie egg?

My iMac played games quite alright. Obviously if you stay on mac you are limited to just the likes of select steam games, sims, football manager and cod4. But if you dual boot with windows you can play most games quite alright.

I had cod:mw3 and black ops installed along with f12010 and dirt2 and they played quite nicely. Not on ultra settings but it looked good to me! (native res of 1920x1080 probably doesn't help framerates!)

Was that on the ATi 4670 or the ATi 5670?

anyone got any clues or heard rumours about the spec for the 2011 models?
had a little dig on apple forums but it wasnt upto much
just people talking about how they just ordered 16gb of ram for their mac (god help us all)
#27
hoping 512mb graphics becomes the norm on the new base model
#28
Don't buy an imac yet, they are due to be refreshed soon...
#29
There is no definate dates for a release, or if you can tell us when then please??
#30
Even getting the quidco at 8 percent equals £778.88 a bargain I think.
#31
cheers might use the code on a macbook instead though!

Again, a rumour, but they may have SSDs & traditional hard drive combos, so the OS is installed on the SSD to make it lightning quick, while data is stored on the regular hard drive. Plus they're likely to have Thunderbird, which is (as I understand it) a successor to firewire, enabling really quick data transfer between the computer and any peripherals (like soundcards).

I imagine it's mostly just going to be an iterative update - faster processor, more RAM, better graphics, etc.

Brian Tong from Cnet thinks end of april start of may. Obviously these are just rumors as Apple dont release information. But it does seem about right as they release a new imac every 9-11 months.

Apprently they will have new sandy bridge processors and thunderbolt ports too. Also better graphics cards. No cosmetic changes though.
#34
You can do face time on an imac and now has mac apps store for it as well.

Hi OP,

Great find, have some heat. I ordered the iMac 27' Intel Core i3.

They didn't have any stock yesterday but seem to have it today, so will keep my fingers crossed that they honour it.

Thanks again X)

I dont think BestBuy is reliable with cash back at all, so go for the Apple HE route if you want to buy one now, same price as Best Buy after cash back BUT WITH 3 YEARS WARRANTY

How do you get the same price as £778.88 with a 3 yrs warranty?

You won't get the cashback with BestBuy at all, I stop using Best Buy after my 2 Quidco transactions have been declined

3 years warranty is standard with Apple HE online
