Good movie, but great! C'mon. It's one of those films that people are suppose to include in their top 10 if they want to be seen as cool.

LOL ;) it's good, but NEVER the best film ever!!! I think this film is like fine art, someone, somewhere who is 'highly regarded' in film circles, said it was "amazing" and like the emporers clothes, no-one dare contradict for fear of being called a philistine.
If this is the BEST film you've ever seen, you're either a pompus arty-farty type or you've not seen many films ;)
My only gripe is that I also love the film Escape From Alcatraz (grew up watching it!) and I feel Shawshank took quite a few bits from it....
Because its not very mainstream and the audience is limited!! Can you imagine the scene at the school gates, "hey dude, you wanna go see Die Hard 5 or sumfink wiv explosions 'n stuff??", "nah mate, Im going to watch Shawshank 2, great story excellently portrayed by two fantastic actors!"..... you think it would turn a profit???? ;)

Don't you mean "BluRay collection" mate, this is 2012!!! All that extra detail of full HD makes such a difference..... :D

Probably because its on TV so often that you don't need to own it, its not really one of those films that you will watch over and over tbh ;)
