Christopher Sandford has just released a new book about Imran Khan. The title of the book is Imran Khan with the tag line – The Cricketer, The Celebrity, The Politician. The book has also hinted at a possible affair between Khan and Pakistan’s former Prime Minister (Late) Benazir Bhutto while they were at Oxford University.

Brief Description Of the Book:

The definitive biography of Imran Khan, the former Pakistan cricket captain and all-rounder — the Oxbridge graduate and vociferous campaigner; the devout Muslim whose kaleidoscopic social life flooded the gossip columns; the man who raised $60 million for cancer research and who is now one of the most important political figures in Pakistan. On one thing, Imran Khan’s friends and enemies agree: it all began with the leopard print satin trousers. In November 1974, the Cricketer International published an article about the new elite group of young talented players, ‘into concepts like fashion and pop music’, and bent on challenging cricket’s eternal stereotypes.

The bookcover was earlier released with the Title – IMRAN KHAN , THE CRICKETER, THE PLAYBOY, THE POLITICIAN – it was lately revised to be IMRAN KHAN , THE CRICKETER, THE CELEBRITY, THE POLITICIAN.

Now a days people reverse the ball every game, before it was called cheating as no one new how to do it, just like in 1992 Eng vs Pak series, no proof, no nothing, pure class

Unfortunately, He subdued many of his past master and that does not really go very well, especially with some Brits.....
Imran had the magic effect...but British cricketers were mostly taken a back by not cricket only, it was the charm that he commanded among the elites in UK and the highly well mannered charisma.
Cheating did happen but ..it was many young British ladies,,,,cheating their husbands and boyfriends for him., and that does Hurt I am sure!

oh please, he was just well ahead of the game, what he did the Australians and English bowlers are now doing and its not called cheating, funny that if you don't know how to do something you accuse the one who does of cheating

do your research and you'll find that in English County Cricket everyone was doing it or should I say attempting to do it, only problem was very few managed to obtain any benefit from it, I've had plenty of jolly old English cricket coaches tell me abt the things that they did and it was perfectly allowed, its just that most bowlers cannot swing or reverse swing a scratched (ruffed up ball) (try it for yourself you'll find it near impossible) and Imran along with his countrymen became an exclusive elite that could, now we can't have foreigners doing that!

so when the majority do something - its not cheating

scratching (ruffing up) one side of the ball by all means including "accidently" stampling on it and all other legal and non-legal methods were very common place in the English game and an accepted norm

it just so happens that certain foreign players just got too good at it and with the advent of new technology being able to monitor pretty much everything on the field and a few uproars by certain players/media/commentators suddenly made what was once an accepted norm not acceptable,

its like say anyone who knows abt Athletics will tell you that certain products will be allowed thereby legal one year and then no longer allowed and therefore not legal

the funny thing is even with the rules changed, Pakistani bowlers are still the best reverse swing bowlers in the world, look at Umar Gul as an example, no one can reverse swing like him, similarly the Pakistani spinners pioneered/invented the "dosra" spin bowl

on a side note, i personally don't like the guy but credit where credit is due, the guy took the bowling game to another level and also made cricket look sexy to the non-cricketing public, considering the mingers that were playing it at the time

would rather watch paint dry

imran khan is the only person who won the ball tampering battle against ian botham, he was the one that introduced the reverse swing
