Granted, it might not be everyone's cup of tea, as there is the odd bit of violence, and the humour is very dark and often non-PC. But hey, we're all adults right!? And anyway, one thing that surprises a little as the film unfolds is that it does actually have some morality at it's heart, as we witness Colin Farrell's character regret his past actions, and Brendan Gleesan's character see a chance for Farrell to find redemption.

The two leads are fantastic - with good chemistry - delivering the many amusing one liners with aplomb, as are the supporting cast, with Ralph Fiennes putting in a performance that will recall Sir Ben Kinsley chewing up the scenery in "Sexy Beast", and the midget (the character Ray's term, not mine!!! I can't seem to see his name on imdb) sending himself up in a manner that you will never forget.

Bruges itself is also a character in the film of course, and despite Ray's constant funny put downs of the place, it looks beautiful. So much so in fact that I now plan to go sometime...I just hope there's no Irish hitmen seeking refuge there when I do!

Great film, recommended.

Good film. I rented this a year ago as I heard the new Doctor Who, Matt Smith, was in it. Watched it all the way through and no sign of him. The I found his scene had been cut and was in the extras.

Will go against the grain and say this is one of about 5 films I have ever turned off halfway through. Awful!

Very good film, and obviously an excellent souvenir if you've ever been to Bruges.

Excellent film, buy it if you haven't seen it yet! I'm not sure if I should buy it as I only saw it a couple of months ago

great film.
#13
classic film. Farrell's best role to date.

Excellent film. I was very surprised as I'm not a fan of Colin Farrell at all but he is class in this.

For those who say it's crap, you probably lap up all these Hollywood blockbusters and Avatar is your fav film of all time:p

My other half could (and would) rant on for hours about the violence in this film. As for me, I'd say this was a fun film - not one to live long in the memory though. It's a good advert for Bruges (minus the violence of-course) but the place is a bit boring. Its got a good pub called Beertje's and it has the Strasse Hendrik brewery (but note that the beers are a bit gay)

So...back to the film. My main observation is that Colin Farrell's eyebrows should be listed in the cast.

I'm getting Sexy Beast next; do you think my OH will like it?

From what ive heard all the film critics and enthusiasts hate Avatar as its too 'mainstream' and cost too much to make and yadda yadda.

I just think theres no pleasing some people! Anyway, this film is amazing, and completely underrated. The people who dont like it probably think were still living in a time where racism is offensive and taking the **** out of midgets isnt excusable :whistling:

Nice original argument, albeit rather redundant when those that dislike the film are vastly outnumbered by those who do by the looks of it! ;-)

or just think is really dull, not particularly funny and think Colin Farrell is an untalented knobend :-D Each to their own I say, just amuses/annoys me when people can't accept others opinions!

(I now have a mental image of Colin Farrell looking me up and sorting me out in the style of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back for that comment! :-D )

Was pleasantly surprised by this film, although not for the faint hearted with its strong language and violent scenes.
#21
Liked this film a lot. The scene when Farrell thinks he is being kind to the Americans by advising not to go up the tower is quality.
#22
One of those films that slipped under the radar, borrowed it off a friend and one to watch if I was bored........

A few days later I watched it, I totally loved it! so different and over the top dry humour that had plenty of loud laughs, one of the best suprise films I saw last year, Colin Farrell's character is class and he pulled it off perfectly, even the predictable sad end had a sick funny twist.

If your humour is mainstream and your easily offended then avoid, but thankfully I'm not so narrow minded and loved it.

Yes... The Mist!

I was expecting to be slaped in the face with another terrible film and performance from Colin Farrell, instead I was slaped in the face by my other half after I spat my tea all over the living room from laughter. Great Film!
