For everyone who is trying to get started with breadmaking! Tesco is discontinuing its own brand breadmaker. I have been researching these and this seems to be a good buy in the budget range. They were reduced in the store I went in - Friern Barnet and might be elsewhere.

Bought one of these before christmas when they were selling a couple off for £19 instore (I think I saw it on HUKD). We've only made 3 loaves so far with the readymix packs but they have been superb. They breadmaker works fine and the little paddle that mixes the ingredients is only about an inch long and doesn't do much damage to the end of the loaf, unlike some I have seen. I'd say it's worth £29.33, so H&R:-D

In some breadmakers, well mine anyway u can take the paddle out after the kneading stage and b4 the rising and baking so u only have a very small hole in the loaf..hardly noticable.

bought one when they were £20.

awful quality bread. followed the instructions precisely, i'm no fool, and the bread was nasty. making it by hand is far superior.

needless to say it went back.

Not trying to dis your post Baglady, it's still a good deal IMHO. I just happened to see them reduced while I was shopping, I wasn't really in the market for one, but like many HUKDealers, I can't resist a bargain. And I'll say again, our loaves have been great, nice crust, lovely soft bread. The only thing I ended up doing which was probably bad, is to add a teaspoon of salt to the mix - the first one was a bit bland that's all - but that's down to the mix, not the breadmaker
