Bloody bargain!

How do you buy the extended warranty?
Ring them up after delivery?

This is the discontinued model but seems to have decent reviews. Good price.

Coop warranty:
Optional 3 Year Washing Machine Warranty - £66.94
Optional 5 Year Washing Machine Warranty - £114.18

Indesit have 10 years part warranty as well. 12 months parts/labour. Not sure what it cost to extend direct with Indesit.

Don't buy hot point either same company, poor customer service, poor quality appliances but a friendly engineer will be a frequent visitor to your home and each month the parent company whirlpool of indesit/ hotpoint will take a nice sum out of your bank account through domestic and general for the labour warranty which is a must to go with their "free" parts warranty.

Coop, like many big retailers use eBay to move the last of their discontinued lines and customer returns/refurbs

Why do people persist on buying such poor quality goods?

The last Indesit machine I had about 11 years ago went into a skip - it still had over 2 years of a 5 year warranty on it, but I could take no more - extreme unreliability, plus even when it was working the noise levels were so bad it was painful to be in the same room, and when spinning it was impossible to do anything anywhere in the rest of the house it was so loud. It was virtually new internally as there had been about 8 visits by the engineer up to then, with plenty of waiting, lost days sitting in whe they failed to turn up, and bathfuls of soggy washing.

I just had enough and went for a quality brand instead - a Siemens, and I still have that same one now. Even now (and it is getting a bit rattly in its old age) it is still quieter and working better than the Indesit ever did.

Never again.

Don't get too comfortable with that thought it is only tumble dryers that catch fire, Washing machines are the biggest cause of fires: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-33124925

I've had my Hotpoint washing machine 27 years & only needed new motor brushes in this time. Dated! It washes cloathes.

maybe some can't afford the £500+ models.....

My own past experience, and reading of the problems of others seems to indicate that with white goods generally, the cheaper end of the market is so lousy, you can't afford those!

They may be cheap, but offer poor value overall. Granted not everyone can afford to pull out a big sum at once, if you haven't got the means, then you are stuck, but if you can, the difference is not trivial - better performance, reliability (hence less troublesome), noise levels.

Once you do decide to push the boat out for better, the only problem is many former good brands are generally not anything like as reliable as they used to be, and it isn't so easy to make the best decision as it was. AEG/Electrolux/Zanussi (which also unfortunately includes many John Lewis own brand models!) being an example of junk masquerading as quality, with even worse customer service.

I'll be happy with a couple of years use. White goods these days are throw away. Sadly.

Nice One Genki(_;) Thanks!

I only had another week or so of stamina left in me to mentally fight off the constant complaints from the domestic help (read Missus) about the free one we got around 10 years ago being past its best. For under £200 quids, I'll be able to recover the upfront outlay from her housekeeping without her noticing. Bought!
