Says £179? is £199 at co-op too...
#2
use code in my post or home page of homebase

may be £199 in coop but you are still saving nearly 50 quid

and does coop include connection and disposal of your old machine ?
#3
Apologies - didn't see that bit! :|

Still £152.99 too much for a Indesit Machine. Great machine If your lonely and need a repair man at your house for company. Even then they'll charge you through the nose for labour to balance out the parts warranty. Never buy Indesit or Hotpoint.

The problem with their 5 year warranty on parts is that it is only valid if you use one of their engineers. They then charge you a fortune for the engineer.

Cheers dreamypuma, I'm taking a risk based on the reviews and in my experience if they last a year they usually last a while longer for £152 all included its worth it to me

I had a similar Indesit to this and it lasted me 7 years without any repairs or anything. It started to leak so I just bought a new one rather than the unknown quantity of how much a repair might cost. The Indesit brand works for me...
#9
I suppose it's a branded appliance, and has to have some benefit over buying some no name for a similar price... Might be worth paying for on credit card for additional protection.
#10
Worth remembering that they will only connect new appliance if you've already disconnected your old one.

Just got the iwb5123 (1200 spin) from b&q for £169 as a part of the 4 day event that started Friday. The warrenty callout charge is £120 per visit, labour charge or they offer you 3 years parts and labour warranty for 12 x £7pm payments.
Hope this helps a little

I had an indesit as a student in a house of 5.On non stop. Well used from 1989 to 1991 and then been with me since then. Still going. Looks battered and bruised with the wooden to broken due to me standing on it repeatedly to reach high things. But is still works.
Bought a new indesit 5 years ago as I had my first child and used washeable nappies. This lasted 13 months (Typical) so I went back to using the old one until they sent me an insurance policy for it so I insured the broken one and it is still going strong. (still insured as we still have our 3rd child in disposeable nappies and I can't face not being able to wash them.)
Seems a good price, but slow spin speed so things will not be that dry. Mine is a 1600 rpm and they come out dry as anything.

Not sure what you base this claim on. We've had a Hotpoint for years, and its been the most reliable washing machine we've owned to date. Hot deal.

Our last 2 machines have been Indesits and have been faultless so can't really agree with you on reliability issues.

Comments such as "I've had my Indesit / Hotpoint for 10years and its still going" don't wash. Indesit and Hotpoint are very different companies these days, They have dumbed down there products, and rely on brand loyalty. These are the exact type of people, they reel in. Then when you become disillusioned by your new Indesit, you buy a nice new Hotpoint. But wait a minute, your new Hotpoint is a re-badged Indesit.

Feel free to ask any independent service engineer. of course curry's and comet love them though, because it's all about price point and moving boxes.

The indesit / Hotpoint model is designed to create churn in the market. Why? Because a washer that lasts 10years does not sell washers in this industry. Combine this with the lack of innovation in the sector (unlike with TV's and Cars) people just make do with washers, until they die, whit goods, just aren't a sexy to the consumer as a plasma screen TV.

This websites quite useful

A Currys salesman told me years ago that Indesit are referred to as Indes**t in the trade.

Nothing wrong with Indesit - you will always find many different opinions with regards to whitegoods - the guarantee's and low price make this a hot deal, thanks!

i'm sorry; i had to laugh at the irony of what you've written. think about it - you're actually inferring that a Currys salesman has told you something worthwhile and appropriate to an electrical item!

bought an indest dryer/washer 15 years ago. my mother as well. both still going strong. only one call out between the 2 of us - the engineer was embarassed to tell me that the reason our dryer wasn't working normally was due to the dust we'd allowed to build up behind the machine..cleaned it, worked fine since and that was 8 years ago....

In the retail trade Currys Salesman are known as ****s who know very little about the products they sell in reality!

We got an indesit at home, only just broken down after over 15 years! Would you call that indes**t?
#25
my last indesit lasted for 9 years.

have another now which was purchased from john lewis, who price matched it.

nice find op

Shock horror. Someone has had a bad experience with a white good product. Please, for the love of all that is holy, stop your whining. Keep it to product review forums and let people who want to do some background research find your comments there.

NEVER ever buy Indesh1t!

My last Indesit lasted for 19 years.

15 years went by before its first breakdown - water on floor. I took lid off and saw straight away where rubber hose was worn and leaking. Fortunately there was enough slack to cut out damaged section and refix hose.

It then lasted for another 4 years before water on floor again. Took off lid again and saw that drum outlet had fractured and was beyond repair - so bought another Indesit about 1 year ago; no problems so far and much quieter than my old machine.

Word of advice - turn off electricity before removing lid; just 3 screws fix it in place.

Brilliant find op rep left, just what I needed..In regard to the discussion My mate and I bought an indesit each 8 years ago,his is still going mine just packed up,the zannusi I had before which cost a fortune lasted barely 2 years!

Yes, but the older Indisits and Hotpoints got a good name. Recently they seem to have gone downhill. Now both are owned by the same company as Ariston.
#33
**** we're talking unreliable white goods here, buy the cheapest & most basic washing machine you can find and give it laldy. Candy and Indesit have served me well, three times a day for four years at a cost of £250 then bin it

Seriously, there's a market for people who want cheap and cheerful
#34
All of this buy Bosch, buy Miele, buy whatever's the most expensive nonsense is just ridiculous.

Yes, a £450 washer may well give you more reliability in the long run. But based on price, if this lasts 4 years, your Bosch will have to last at least 12 to represent any kind of a saving.

End of the day you'll hear horror stories about every brand under the sun. £152.99 for any washing machine is a very good price, regardless what some Curry's spod says. We replaced a top of the line LG direct drive washer with a cheapo Beko earlier in the year, and it's been flawless. Very simple, very good performance, and if it breaks down it's under guarantee. If it dies when the guarantee's up, we'll probably be on this site looking for an offer like this.

Ordered but forgot Quidco

I've just paid more than £152.99 to Domestic & General for a repair and 1 year warranty for my 6 year old LG washing machine!

I know Currys staff are a bit pants at everything but he isn't wrong. Older Indesits were fine. I am not the onloy one on here saying avoid them. My wife and I had an Indesit that lasted about 3 years, binned it and got a Bosch which is still going after 5 years so far.

That'll do, just to show you that many people refer to Indesit and Indes**t. It's always best to do your research before spouting off without knowing your facts, whether it's from a Currys salesman or not.

We were given one of these by a friend who moved house and used it when our washing machine broke down. Would not previously have purchased an indesit as I thought they were cheap and nasty, now think its a great machine, very regularly used with no problems over the past 2 years and washes very clean. For the price you can't go wrong.
