Good price but not a good brand

Really ! not quite sure about your statement as i have had mine for over 10 years with no trouble never missed a beat and i have just bought another one .PS they use this brand on the oil rigs so they must be reliable eh !

very good brand I have washing machine, drier and fridge Indesit ignore the brand comment above

I had one of these it went wrong just after a year.

Everybody has nightmare stories about every brand, especially washing machines. It's usually because of dumb people overloading the things.

I've had one of these for six years, still working like the day I got it. Indesit make great washing machines - much better than Hotpoints etc (which have been absolutely shockingly bad for years). Sure you can pay a lot more money for a Bosch, but you don't have to pay that much.

I can't comment on the Indesit brand, however, for what it's worth 1200 spin speed doesn't get the clothes dry enough in my opinion.

Drier!!!

Indesit, a STINKING brand :-(

Been looking for a new washer for a while now as my present Indesit is f*cked (lasted about 3 years or so). Bargain for an Indesit - Cheers OP

for reasons that are to long to go into we bought a indesit and a zanussi washing m/c at the same time 4 years ago the zaussi broke down 8 months ago main bearing the indesit which did the heavy work any way still going.the zanussi cost £100 more.

Drier!!!

Washing Line + Wind!

Get a Bosch for about £100 more.

Cheap if you only ahve £200 for a machine i guess and 5 years parts will undoubedly be useful although 1 year labour will end up costing you when it breaks down

We've had a Hotpoint for about 5 years or so and has broken down twice (extended warranty was useful). If it bearks down again I will get a basic Bosch or Siemens

Also regular maintenance washes will help keep your machine running better

Voted hot on price

Washing Line + Wind!

Then it rains so you have to do it all over again

Just to add for those that don't know.

The parts guarentee only stands if you call out a Indesit engineer and their call out charges are quite steep.

Also be prepared for the hard sell on a very expensive full cover policy when you try to register your machine.

Indesit are Hotpoint. Its the same company and has been for a few years. Same as Hoovers are now part of Candy in europe. Both Hotpoint and Hoover(europe) are now italian companies.

Indesit had major electrical problems in the past even burning down people's houses. I'm sure that problem has been completely solved now but its not a great reputation to be frank. Most washing machines/dishwashers have safety features that would prevent that ever happening like non flammable materials and electrical cutouts.

Lets face it ending up like a chared lump in the morning is too high a price to pay to save a few pounds.

I have an in Indesit washing machine and dishwasher had no problems with them for 5 years.I think its the luck of the draw with any white goods.

I totally agree with this and it can be extended to many other goods too. I also think you should factor in how much you use it. If you have a family with a large number of young children and you are going to be using it a lot then your criteria is different from someone who is single and washes clothes far less often. For a heavy user they should go for quality or if they go cheap at least get an extended warranty to cover a few years. For light users a middle quality basic model.

Remember the most reliable washer/drier is about as reliable as the least reliable simple washing machine or at least thats what Which claimed a few years ago when I was reading it back then.

The more complex the washing machine whatever the brand the less reliable.

Do you realise that the Indesit group owns Hotpoint? They're probably made in the same factory!

Complete false economy for me these. Mate got similar and it broke after a year or so. Its not just the money - its the hassle of getting someone to come and fix it and having no washer.

Spend another £100 and get a Bosch.

Err, they are actually. As with everything in life, you get what you pay for.
#26
Heat added. Just ordered one, £219 minus the £30 code = £189, minus the £25 of vouchers = £164. If it only lasts a couple of years its still cheap!

When will people get it? White goods made 15 years ago were made to a completely different standard. I've had my Indesit for 10 - 15years hold no water, even more so with Indesit or Hotpoint.

Indesit, Hotpoint = Crap manufactured for Curry's and Comet to shift boxes, and for the manufacturer to sell overpriced parts for repair.

Sorry but wouldnt buy ANYTHING from ElektroMerloni - Indesit, Hotpoint, Ariston. At my former employer we were asked NOT to sell our own extended warranties as we were LOOSING money on them. The Indesit warranty is pointless as a callout will cost typically £65 and the engineer will more than likely condem the machine, and offer a discount on an overpriced new one. No point buying overpriced AEG or Zanussi as they are manufactured with the same components as the owner, Electrolux. So, best cheap washing machine is, as hard as it is for me to say as i hate this company, LG. Good quality, great design and hugely reliable. Just make sure its one of the DD motor models with a 10 year guarantee. Other good alternatives are BOSCH, Panasonic, in the mid price range. If it must be cheap, BEKO are far better than Indesit, with excellent backup, and in Mainland Europe at least, come with 5 year total guarantee.

^ It is only the motor that is guaranteed for 10 years with LG washers. The rest of the machine is only guaranteed for 2 years.
