Be careful with Indesit.....My first Indesit lasted 13 months before the electronics computer board went on it..was quoted £150 to repair-wasnt worth it so i scrapped it and ordered another Indesit but with the Dryer..big mistake, that one lasted almost 2 years before packing up.....As this has happened twice to me (short life Indesits) i got in touch with Indesit and told them the situation, although i knew they were both past their warranty....all Indesit said was that the machines are only designed to last a year..and thats why they only give a 12 month warranty from new..and any life after this is a bonus!!

I wouldnt have another Indesit if it was given to me...the worst made machines on the market today.

Spenspuma :- Did they tell you that the machines were made to last one year ? Ask them to state that in writing & take it with CAB or TS.

As edi says, it would be interesting to know their policy on this warranty issue and how you stand with claiming compensation. I'm sure I read somewhere about reasonable life expectancy of products, determining as to whether you can make a claim more than one year after the warranty expires... Thanks spenspuma :)

Well.....to be honest the person i spoke to at customer services was quite abrupt with me...as soon as she knew it was over a year old (all 1 month over!!) she didnt want to know really!!!......the way she phrased it was that Indesit only guarantee their products to last a year....anything after that its out of their hands.....I wasnt happy but i just accepted that you get what you pay for these days....spend £200 on a washer and your getting junk.....I now have a £500 Zannussi and its 5 years old and still going strong.....point proven there somewhere.

Im not saying ALL Indesits will pack up after a year or two....but when they delivered the Zanussi they took the old one away and the driver/fitter commented on how many Indesits hes picked up that have gone bad!!!

Ah I see :) Thanks for the explanation and almost every other appliance manufacturer only offer a twelve month guarantee, the rest of the time it's the insurance option I guess... Bosch have a two year parts and labour cover with new laundry products...

For what it's worth we've had an Indesit WIE 167 1600 spin washer for about 5 years or so and it's been totally fine, never missed a beat nor needed a repair. It just does what it says on the tin. The digital display is great as it gives a count down to the finish which can be handy.
